In MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'The Joseon Lawyer' (directed by Seung-ho Kim and Han-joon Lee/written by Jin-young Choi/produced by People Story Company and One Content), Kang Han-soo (played by Do-hwan Woo), a foreign branch office, took on any litigation related to the target of revenge at any cost, and he led the case. Both lawsuits had thrilling endings. We looked back on the interesting revenge story played by Hansu and the growth narrative contained within it.
# Kang Han-soo's first target of revenge, a sharp blade aimed at 'Upper Jangdaebang'!
After settling in Hanyang, the first place Hansu aimed his sword of revenge at was Jang Daebang (played by Lee Jun-hyuk), who runs Hanyang's best merchant merchant. Jang Daebang, a military officer in the past, brutally beat Hansoo's father, Kang Yulgwan (played by Kim Jongtae), to death.
Hansu filed a lawsuit against Jang Daebang over the right to sell plum wine. Mr. Park (played by Choi Jae-hwan), who almost lost his livelihood due to the tyranny of the Jang clan, was able to continue his business thanks to Hansoo, and was reborn as a storyteller who saved the life of a family by saving his elderly mother who was about to commit suicide.
# Kang Han-soo, false accusation against ‘manufacturing Park Je-soo’ + the ultimate final teacher
Park Je-soo (played by Jo Hee-bong), who took up a government position while completely forgetting about the false accusation of Kang Yul-gwan in the past, was embroiled in a divorce lawsuit for reasons such as engaging in domestic violence against his wife Jo Je-ma (played by Bae Hae-seon) and living together with a gisaeng.
Hansoo took revenge on Park Jesu, who had helped frame his parents in the past, by framing him in the same way. Hansoo dramatically won the case despite several hardships, such as confronting Yeonju (played by Kim Ji-yeon) and falling into the water of the Han River ahead of the divorce lawsuit. The divorce lawsuit between Park Je-soo, who has a social status, and his wife, who is a weak woman, made us reflect on its meaning.
# Kang Han-soo → A warning letter sent to ‘Hungu faction Minister Chu Young-woo’! ‘Tension MAX’
In the 7th and 8th broadcasts, Hansoo sent a venomous warning to Choo Young-woo (played by Choi Moo-sung) and took charge of the lawsuit filed by his son Chu Do-ryeong (played by Jo Min-gyu). Chu Young-woo is a minister of the Hungu faction and the governor of Cheongsan during the Kang Yul-gwan bribery incident, and is also the person who ruined his family. Just as Hansoo's entire family was driven out, Choo Youngwoo also felt despair as he had to watch his son die right in front of his eyes. On this day, at the Songsa, Hansoo's mindset changed and he wanted to become a real outsider, not just for personal revenge, and it made us watch his growth.
Hansoo's revenge is meaningful in that it returns the exact same treatment to the target of revenge. In particular, the message of Hansu's growth as an outsider in the process of a lawsuit that started out as personal revenge changes into a lawsuit for the people is powerful.
As the play progresses, Hansu's gradual revenge as he reaches higher and higher levels, including the top, manufacturing, and government affairs, becomes more interesting. I am even more curious about where Hansu's revenge will become sharper and more bloody in the next episode, and who will be at the end.
MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'The Joseon Lawyer', which contains the epic story of Woo Do-han's cruel and murderous revenge story, airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM.
