Lee Do-hyun, who developed a romantic relationship with Lim Ji-yeon, who co-starred in Netflix's 'The Glory', emphasized that the character in 'Bad Mom' is completely different from the previous work 'The Glory'.
On the 26th, the production presentation for JTBC's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Bad Mom' was broadcast live online. Actors Ra Mi-ran, Lee Do-hyun, Ahn Eun-jin, and director Shim Na-yeon attended the event.
'Bad Mom' is a touching healing comedy about mother Young-soon (played by Ra Mi-ran), who had no choice but to become a stubbornly bad mother for her child, and her son Kang-ho (played by Lee Do-hyun), who became a child in an unexpected accident, and find the happiness they lost. Director Shim Na-yeon, who won the Best Drama Drama Award at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards, directed the film, and writer Bae Se-young, who was recognized for her writing skills in films such as 'Life is Beautiful', 'Extreme Job', and 'The Perfect Stranger', wrote the film. .
Director Shim Na-yeon introduced, "Although it has the title 'Bad Mom,' it contains stories of not only mothers, but also mothers and daughters, mothers and sons, and people's lives. It is a drama that is not too heavy and can be watched comfortably."
When asked why he took on the role of directing, Director Shim said, "I wanted to do a different genre from my previous work, and I felt warm after seeing the writing written by Bae. Doing thrillers or other genres requires a lot of emotional exhaustion, but this work allows me to fill my emotions. “I thought it might be so,” he said.
Regarding the meaning of the title 'Bad Mother', "It doesn't mean that it's really bad. There are parts where you can't help but be harsh and do bad things for your child. Ultimately, it's for the sake of the child, and whether I'm right or not, the mother thinks for herself. “It seems like a lot,” he said.
Jinyoung-sun, played by Ra Mi-ran, is a person who runs a pig farm and raised her son alone, and decides to become a bad mother to avoid passing on the pain caused by poverty and ignorance.
Ra Mi-ran said, "I had to make a choice. I had to do it at least," and "I think it's the first time I've read a script so quickly that I didn't notice the passage of time. The characters are so lovely, and the story progresses so quickly. “I thought it might be a story, but I was kicked in the back and read the entire script they gave me in one go,” he said, explaining his reason for appearing.
Ra Mi-ran, who married Kim Jin-gu, a former manager of Shin Seong-woo, in 2002 and has one son, is actually a 'good mother'. He said, “I often hear people say that I am a good mother to my children. I think they say that because I am the type of person who lets children go and leaves things to their own devices.” He added, “I think Young-sun in the drama is more of a pitiful mother than a bad mother.” Ra Mi-ran's son, Kim Geun-woo, is a cyclist who won a silver medal in the men's 1km time trail race at the 28th Junior Asian Track Cycling Championships.
Lee Do-hyun plays Choi Kang-ho, who became a cold-blooded prosecutor with his own secret, but was turned into a child in an unexpected accident and ended up living a new life with his bad mother.
Lee Do-hyun, who played the role of a 7-year-old child, said, "I thought that if the child's appearance was exaggerated too much, it would seem insincere, so I did a lot of work to adjust the level. It was not easy, but it was fun work. I laughed while playing the role of a 7-year-old child. “I have become more confident, and I have become brighter,” he said.
When asked about the difference between Joo Yeo-jeong and her previous work, Netflix's 'The Glory', Lee Do-hyun said, "It's completely different. Kang-ho has a very diverse side. Because he grew up under a good mother, he can be seen as a bad son. I think he is that mother's son. In the end, "We grew up well. I think we're similar in that we studied a lot," he said.
When asked about her acting chemistry with Lee Do-hyun, Ra Mi-ran said, "I feel like I've met the best partner. I think this is the first time my son has acted with me for a long time," and joked, "The score is 25 out of 100." He explained, "When he wasn't filming, he neglected me. Even this was 100% my son."
In response, Lee Do-hyun said, "I think this is why I'm a bad mother. I also get 25 points," and added, "I had a lot of fun filming with my sister. It was difficult to find the emotional line, but my senior was good at controlling herself because she had experience. I couldn't control it." said.
Eun-jin Ahn played the role of Lee Mi-joo, Choi Kang-ho's old friend and only refuge. He has a bold personality who cannot tolerate injustice, and when he returns to his hometown and reunites with Choi Kang-ho, who became his child, he undergoes a change.
Ahn Eun-jin said that she felt a lot of pressure about acting in dialect, saying, "I read the script alone and asked my friends to record it. When I did my first full script reading, I saw the acting of my seniors and thought that all I had to do was blend in. As I filmed, I became more and more confident. “I feel more comfortable,” he said.
Regarding her relationship with Kang-ho in the play, Ahn Eun-jin explained, "It was difficult to seduce Kang-ho, but I go until the end with the firm belief that they are my destined partner." Lee Do-hyun added, "Kang-ho also likes Mi-joo very much. She has done everything for him to the extent that I wonder if Kang-ho would have grown up well if Mi-ju had not been there."
'Bad Mom' has a total of 14 episodes and will premiere at 10:30 PM on the 26th.
