‘This is Moon Jae-in’, No. 1 Korean film on the first day of release

The movie 'Moon Jae-in' (director Lee Chang-jae) ranked first in the box office among Korean films released in the same period on the first day of its release.

According to distributor M Project on the 11th, 'Moon Jae-in' marked the beginning of a box office craze by ranking first among Korean films, first among films released at the same time, and third in overall box office upon its release on the 10th. In addition, the advance reservation rate is also expected to remain high, ranking first among Korean films and third overall. (Based on the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network for movie theater admission tickets)

'I am Moon Jae-in' not only captures the image of 'Moon Jae-in,' who has been leading a life as a natural person in Pyeongsan Village after leaving office as president, but also sheds a deeper light on the person named Moon Jae-in through interviews with those who have been by his side throughout his life. This is a work that unfolds his story that has not been seen before.

‘This is Moon Jae-in’ was screened 1,303 times in 421 theaters and 537 screens nationwide on May 10, the first day of its release. Even though it was a weekday, 12,120 audiences visited the theater until the screening before 5 p.m., proving the high interest in the film and the audience's support.

However, requests for expansion of screenings are pouring in from viewers who feel disappointed that only 21 of the total 1,303 screenings are available in theaters that start screening from 6 PM to 8 PM, also known as 'Prime Time', which is the time zone most preferred by audiences. Inquiries about screenings are continuing at theaters across the country.
