Press stills from Netflix's 'Thief: The Sound of the Sword' have been released.
On the 4th, Netflix released 20 press stills for ‘Thief: The Sound of the Sword’. 'Thieves: The Sound of the Sword' is an action drama about people who come together to protect their precious people and their home in Gando, a lawless land where China, Japan, and people gathered in 1920.
The released stills foreshadow the entangled relationships of those who gathered in Gando for different purposes and the twisted fate created by the times. Lee Yoon (played by Kim Nam-gil), who became a Japanese soldier from a slave and made a great contribution, leaves everything and leaves for Gando to repay the debt of the tragedy that occurred six years ago.
There, he witnesses another tragedy in Joseon and decides to form a band of thieves to fight back in order to avoid being taken away and suffering anymore. He once fought for his country as a loyal volunteer soldier, but now he joins forces with Choi Chung-soo (played by Yoo Jae-myeong), who has settled in Gando to protect his family, and they become each other's strong supporters.
Nam Hee-shin (played by Seo Hyeon), an independence activist who lives under the guise of being the manager of the Railway Bureau of the Japanese Government-General of Korea, plans a risky operation to raise funds for independence. By hiring gunman Eon-nyeon (played by Lee Ho-jeong), he attempts to steal funds for the construction of the Gando Line railway, a key project of the Japanese Government-General of Korea. Eon-nyeon, who is willing to do anything for money, unexpectedly reunites with Lee Yoon, with whom she had a past relationship, in Gando, causing a setback in the performance of her mission.
Lee Gwang-il (played by Lee Hyun-wook) became the youngest major from Joseon to become a major in the Japanese army thanks to the contributions of his slave and subordinate, Lee Yoon. He, a cold-blooded Korean who is notorious among the Joseon people, feels deeply betrayed when Lee Yun, whom he thought he had relieved and made a friend of, leaves. After proposing to Nam Hee-sin, with whom he was in love, he heads to Gando after hearing that the independence army is targeting funds for the construction of the Gando Line. A huge and dynamic story unfolds in the wilderness as bandits, independence forces, Japanese soldiers, and magic bandits join forces in pursuit of the enormous railroad construction funds transported to Gando.
“The title ‘Thief’ means ‘the sound of a sword.’ That differentiation was unique and interesting” (Kim Nam-gil), “Each character has a very lively and three-dimensional story” (Seohyun), “Action action drama.” “It was attractive because it was a work that combined various aspects of the genre, the joys and sorrows of people who lost their homeland, and the will to survive of many people coming together to live a new life,” (Yoo Jae-myeong) said, revealing the reason why each person decided to appear in the work, drawing characters with unique personalities intertwined. It ignites expectations for a fresh story and a three-dimensional ensemble.
‘The Thief: The Sound of the Sword’ will be released in over 190 countries around the world through Netflix on the 22nd.
