Broadcaster Solbi revealed why she was happy about Jeon Hyun-moo's grand prize news.
Solbi appeared as a guest on SBS Power FM's 'Choi Hwa-jeong's Power Time', which aired on the 16th.
On this day, a listener shared the news, “I purchased artist Solbi’s work last year and my son was accepted to Seoul National University.” In response, Solbi said, "I'm really happy every time I hear news like this. After I work, I pray and send it off. I hope that happiness can be delivered to a family through my work."
Solbi continued, "Jeon Hyun-moo bought my work last year and won the grand prize. Of course, it wasn't because of my work. However, I was really happy as if it was my own work. Every time I hear good news after buying my work, I think I should work harder. “It will happen,” he added.
Solbi said the reason she started art was “to treat depression.” He confessed, "Everyone thought of me as a joyful and happy person. As a result, I felt like I had lost my identity while wearing a mask. I felt like I had lost myself, and because I had a lot of personal issues, I had mental illness."
He continued, "At first, I drew for the purpose of healing, but as I drew, I felt refreshed and it became an opportunity to have a conversation with myself. It was also nice to be able to convey a certain message through painting."
Solbi said, "If you go back 20 years and ask, 'Did you know you would become an artist?', no one would have thought that way. I think life is something you have to try to know. Even though life is unpredictable, if you try, you will come across a fateful moment. "he said.
