Kim Woo-bin "The smoking scene was done in CG"

Kim Woo-bin revealed that the cigarette scene in Netflix's 'The Delivery Driver' was done with CG.

On the 17th, I met Kim Woo-bin, the protagonist of the Netflix series ‘The Delivery Driver’, at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Seoul. Kim Woo-bin played the role of '5-8', a former refugee and the top ranked delivery driver. 5-8 are ‘legendary delivery drivers’ who deliver fresh oxygen, food, and daily necessities through the polluted air and attacks from hunters. 5-8, whose fighting skills are so strong that hunters prey on his days off, works as a knight helping refugees with several couriers at night.

Number 5-8 is a smoker in the play. As Kim Woo-bin was suffering from nasopharyngeal cancer, the smoking scene was said to have been done in CG to take his health into consideration. Kim Woo-bin said, "It was more awkward than just filming. When I received the script, I saw that 5-8 was a character who smoked a lot. The director said it was bad for his health and said he would remove it, but in my opinion, smoking is a natural fit for 5-8's character. “I thought it would suit me. I said I would try acting if it could be realized in CG,” he said. He continued, "The CG team said it's easier to create something that isn't there than to erase something that exists," and "I acted with a model cigarette. I had fun acting while calculating where the smoke would come from, where the ash would fall, and the timing. I saw the result and it looked real. “It was more,” he said. He confessed, "I thought there might be people who would be worried. I was grateful."

Kim Woo-bin said, “After the work was released, I told my father in advance that it was CG because I was worried that he would be surprised and worried when he saw the cigarette scene.” He then laughed, saying, “It was so well executed that even though they knew it was CG, they were worried that it might be bad for the body.”

'The Delivery Driver' is set in the Korean Peninsula of the future, where people cannot live without oxygen respirators due to extreme air pollution, and what happens as legendary courier 5-8 (played by Kim Woo-bin) and refugee Sa-wol (played by Kang Yoo-seok) confront the Cheonmyeong Group that rules the new world. A Netflix series depicting . It was released on the 12th, and in Netflix's official 'Netflix TOP 10', 'The Delivery Driver' recorded 31.22 million hours, ranking first in the non-English TV category among the global TOP 10 (8th to 14th).
