Ma Dong-seok, a nuclear punch that is not conceited

Ma Dong-seok, an actor with little cartilage and Achilles tendon, returns to 'Sin City 3'. Confronting two top villains Lee Jun-hyeok and Aoki Munetaka, he continues to evolve and deliver another catharsis.

On the afternoon of the 22nd, a media distribution preview for the movie 'Crime City 3' (director Lee Sang-yong) was held at Megabox COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Actors Ma Dong-seok, Lee Jun-hyuk, Aoki Munetaka, and director Sang-yong Lee attended the press conference held after the media distribution preview.

'Criminal City 3' depicts the events after Ma Seok-do (Ma Dong-seok), a detective at the Geumcheon Police Station, moves to Gwangsu University in Seoul. Maseokdo sets out to catch Joo Seong-cheol (played by Lee Jun-hyuk), who is behind a new drug crime case, and Ricky (played by Munetaka Aoki), another villain involved in a drug case.

Director Lee Sang-yong, who started as an assistant director for 'Criminal City', took on his first directing challenge with 'Crime City 2'. He then directed 'Sin City 3'. Director Lee Sang-yong said about the difference from the previous work, "The big frame that the audience expects is the same. When Maseokdo is in a new environment, he made many new attempts with an emphasis on how to use helpers and how to beat the new villain with excitement. "he said.

Ma Dong-seok takes on the role of detective Ma Seok-do, who moved to the Seoul Metropolitan Investigation Unit seven years after the arrest of the kidnapper and murderer in Vietnam. He shows off another tiki-taka action with his new teammates. Ma Dong-seok said, "Since there are two extremely powerful villains set up, the number and amount of action naturally increased for me. I did my best without getting hurt while doing detailed and delicate actions. So I'm always careful, but I always thought and worked hard for action that looks cool and exciting."

Ma Dong-seok, who added mouth-watering action to the hot action, said, “I pursued an ad-lib or an ad-lib like an ad-lib. Most of the lines in the movie are made up of lines that sound like ad-libs. It may sound like, but there were more ad libs that filled the void with actor Kim Min-jae than me. I had a lot of parts that were prepared. I mainly made them in advance in the script," he explained.

In the play, Lee Joon-hyeok plays Joo Seong-cheol, a third-generation Korean villain wrapped in a veil. Lee Joon-hyeok said, "I went to action school as soon as I was cast. I tried other actions before, but it wasn't easy. It was difficult to step on people naturally, but the martial arts team devotedly accepted them. I did a lot of training similar to what was shown in the movie. It went on without any major problems. A lot of camaraderie was built up,” he expressed affection.

Lee Jun-hyeok is a big fan of the 'Criminal City' series. He said, "I lived like that for 6 months because Joo Seong-cheol is a character that I can physically face. There were many changes, such as physically." It's good and satisfying to be hit. The technique in the last scene seems to be hit with my usual technique, so I think it will remain in my memory. Even before the action, I was excited, "he laughed.

Aoki Munetaka has transformed into Ricky, the heinous villain from Japan. This is Aoki Munetaka, who is the first to film a hot Korean movie. He came to Korea from Japan on the 21st, the day before, and watched 'Crime City 3' at a movie theater for the first time that day. He said, "I think that a movie begins only when it is delivered to the audience. Watching a movie in a movie theater means being able to move with the audience. Watching a movie in a movie theater is a joy."

Aoki Munetaka said, "I also started action training the day after I received the offer to appear. I contacted the action team that I was with for 'Kenshin of the Wind' and trained until just before filming. If I shoot an action video in Japan and send it to you, I will make an action in Korea. I prepared it after watching the video. I made an action while communicating between Korea and Japan."

Director Lee Sang-yong talked about the looks of Lee Jun-hyeok, who plays the role of supervillain Joo Seong-cheol, and Munetaka Aoki, who plays Ricky. He said, “I think that (the appearance of the villain) is number one. In terms of reality, it is right to recruit people who are ugly and likely to count. But when watching a movie, you cannot ignore the charm of an actor. I think I'm obsessed with how to pull out the expression of a bad X that looks like the real thing."

Director Lee Sang-yong said, “When I do the second episode, I think a lot about how to express (Son) Seok-gu, and it’s not good to be shown in a bad way, so I tend to think a lot about how to maximize the character’s charm and express it on set. He expressed his satisfaction, saying, "I wanted to know what kind of approach would be good to approach in order to express this, so I started talking from the bottom up. Bringing out the original charm of this character was the first step. As a director, I think the result was very satisfactory."

Ma Dong-seok said, "I am careful not to imitate myself. I throw away the bad things and bring the good things, but if I do good things repeatedly, I am bored. Good things need to be changed. I also have the mindset that I have to catch bad things. There are parts where I have to keep taking it and go with strength,” he said. “I have no cartilage in my knee and no half of the Achilles tendon. Even in that state, I have to do almost all of the boxing actions. .You must always throw away your obsession with action or acting, and you must not be lazy to settle down. I have many clever thoughts, so please look at it nicely.

Lastly, director Lee Sang-yong said, “Since ‘Sin City’ 2 was really good, during the process of making the 3rd part, I did not predict that it would be as good as the 2nd part and did not make it. This is bigger. I think I tried to show a lot of fresh things in a part where I tried a lot of new things.” Ma Dong-seok said, "I hope we can contribute even in a small way (to the difficult Korean film industry). As an audience member, I want to enjoy and watch more movies. A lot of audiences come to the cinema and watch 'Criminal City 3' is stressful. I wish I could solve it."

'Sin City 3' will be released on the 31st.
