Interview with Ma Dong-seok as Maseok-do in the movie 'Crime City 3'
Actor Ma Dong-seok mentioned his future status as a producer.
On the morning of the 24th, Ma Dong-seok had a round interview with the upcoming movie 'Crime City 3' (director Lee Sang-yong) at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'Criminal City 3' is a monster detective Ma Seok-do (Ma Dong-seok) moves to Gwangsu University in Seoul to catch Joo Seong-cheol (Lee Jun-hyeok), who is behind a new drug crime case, and Ricky ( Aoki Munetaka), another villain involved in a drug case. It depicts an exhilarating crime-fighting operation for the sake of others.
Ma Dong-seok plays the role of detective Ma Seok-do. Detective Maseok-do is a person who moved to the Seoul Metropolitan Investigation Unit seven years after the arrest of the kidnapper and murderer in Vietnam. He learns that the murder case he and his new team members are investigating is linked to a new drug case linked to a Japanese organization.
On this day, Ma Dong-seok said, "I'm not interested in directing. 'Criminal City' has three producers. I focus on casting, creativity, and characters. I plan the scenario and decide what story it will be. I Decide that and turn it into a scenario. "I participate a lot in the production part. Other producers help with the business. In fact, I'm not very interested in directing. I want to continue producing or creating scenarios."
After the release of 'Sin City 2', Ma Dong-seok filmed 'Sin City 3' and 'Sin City 4' together. He said, "I filmed up to episode 4 of 'Criminal City'. I am currently editing. I am working on scenarios for episodes 5 and 6. The filming time has not yet been decided. There are things I need to film in Hollywood first. I do. I'm looking for a schedule because of that."
Also, "There is a work that is being co-produced with Jackson Pictures and producer Matt Jackson, and is in the final stage of writing the script. Producer Matt Jackson is a close friend of mine. The Jackson Pictures company that co-produces is the production company that produced 'Trial of Chicago 7'. I'm preparing a remake of 'Bad Man' with Paramount. I'm currently on a writer's strike in the US, so I'm taking a break. I've written something to some extent, so I'm working on it."
Ma Dong-seok said, "There are a few more things. There is a book suggested by a famous director. He is a director I like, but I have a reverse proposal and I am preparing something. In the case of 'Eternals' , I signed a 10-year contract (with Marvel). Looking at the period, it is a situation where we have to work together. I don't know if it will be 'Eternals 2', whether it will go to a different world view, whether it will be a solo movie, or a Disney Plus drama. I have to wait because I am in the position to be notified."
Ma Dong-seok said, "I saw 'Crime City' in Hollywood and was asked to make an American version of it, and we are talking about it. We are also producing the works I am filming now. I am interested in Korean content (in Hollywood). I am thinking of global content. What I'm doing is going to Hollywood and filming as it is, and I'm talking about 3 or 4 movies that come into Korea, produce, and release backwards outside."
Also, "We want to show that we can produce better quality while spending less production budget. Rather, the background is foreign, and when we go indoors, we try to film in Korea by mixing it with foreign actors in a set made in Korea .I'm trying to create an opportunity to show my face to the market. There are many great actors, but I don't know many.I'm interested in content, but I'm less interested in actors than I thought. I hope good actors appear in many global contents."
'Sin City 3' will be released on the 31st.
