On the 8th, I had an interview with actress Ra Mi-ran at a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at the end of the JTBC drama 'Bad Mother'.
'Bad Mother' tells the story of a mother, Young-soon (Ra Mi-ran), who had no choice but to be a bad mother for her child, and her son Kang-ho (Lee Do-hyun), who became a child in an unexpected accident, in search of lost happiness. Ra Mi-ran played the role of Jin Young-sook, who volunteered to be a bad mother in order not to inherit the pain of poverty and ignorance while raising her son while running a pig farm alone.
Ra Mi-ran is in charge of the title role in this work. When asked if there was any pressure, he said, "I liked that it was not too biased towards the main character and solved it. The characters around me are alive and there are all the stories, and I was able to combine them together and create a single story even when they were scattered. There is no need to feel pressure or things like that. There was no. There were many people besides me who filled the drama, so I didn't feel like I was leading it alone."
Regarding his pride in the title role, he added, “What does it mean?” and added, “There are more things to be criticized for. .
Ra Mi-ran tried to understand 'Jin Young-soon' itself rather than 'maternal love' in expressing the character. He said, "It's not because I'm a mother, it's because I'm Youngsoon. It's a conclusion and judgment that I can make because I've lived this kind of life, and according to that, this story is born as I make mistakes, make mistakes, ask for forgiveness, and build relationships. I think my gratitude has grown.”
In the final episode, Jin Young-soon faced an unreversed death. In response, Ra Mi-ran was satisfied, saying, "It went well. It was nice to have a very happy ending. Dying itself didn't come out sad or heartbreaking, so it was a very well-planned ending.
"I didn't want to see Youngsoon die in pain after a hard life. I also wanted to see her happy. Life was hard, but I thought it would be very pitiful to die in pain."
