On the afternoon of the 19th, a production presentation for Genie TV's original drama 'House with a Yard' was held at Stanford Hotel Korea in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Actors Kim Tae-hee, Lim Ji-yeon, Kim Seong-oh, Choi Jae-rim, and director Jung Ji-hyun attended the event.
Based on the bestseller of the same name, 'House with a Yard' is a suspense thriller about two women living completely different lives due to a strange smell coming from the backyard. This is a new work by director Jung Ji-hyun, who directed the dramas 'Enter a search term WWW' and 'Twenty Five Twenty One'.
On this day, director Jung Ji-hyun said, "I met writer Kim Jin-young, the author of the original work, once separately. When I asked if it would be okay to revise the original work in a dramatic way without damaging it, he gave me permission." He continued, "Due to the nature of the genre, it may be a drama without stimulating fun, but I made it so that even one person can watch it more."
Regarding the casting of Kim Tae-hee and Lim Ji-yeon, director Jung Ji-hyun said, "Actress Tae-hee Kim is still the same now, but she is an icon of an era that dominated an era, so there is no reason for me not to do it. Actress Ji-yeon Lim remembers delivering the script before 'The Glory' was released. "I thought a lot. I received a lot of recommendations (about Lim Ji-yeon from people around me). I delivered the script without a doubt. Fortunately, he chose the script," he explained.
In addition, director Jung Ji-hyun said, "After the release of 'The Glory', it was a hit, so I joked and said, 'Oh, it's so good' and 'Let's see thanks to our actor Lim.' made the scene riot.
Joo-ran, played by Kim Tae-hee, is a person who lives a picturesque life in a perfect house and is confused by the smell of a dead body in the backyard. Especially 'Hi Bye, Mama!' Kim Tae-hee, who returned after 3 years, took on the challenge of a thriller for the first time since her debut with 'House with a Yard'.
Kim Tae-hee said, "I was so busy with my daily life that I didn't realize time was passing. I read the script while thinking about returning, and when I read the script for this work, I was immersed in it despite the unfamiliar genre of thriller. When the script for the first part was finished, I was curious about the second part, Also, I was curious about the character Joo-ran.”
“My heart trembled the moment I imagined what it would be like if I expressed and acted as Ju-ran. I started with a thrill. I consider myself lucky," he added.
Kim Tae-hee's Joo-ran is said to be the most silent role among the characters she has played so far. He explained, "There were many cases where I had to talk a lot with my eyes. I tried to act with that emotion as much as possible by being completely in the heart of Juran."
In the play, Lim Ji-yeon plays Sang-eun. Sang-eun is a woman who dreams of escaping from a pitiful reality. Lim Ji-yeon, who played the role of school violence perpetrator Yeon-jin in the Netflix series 'The Glory', becomes a victim of domestic violence. In addition, Kim Tae-hee's husband, Rain (Jung Ji-hoon), worked with Lim Ji-yeon in the MBC drama 'Welcome 2 Life'.
Kim Tae-hee said, "Isn't Lim Ji-yeon an unfortunate role? She was a victim of domestic violence, and she was weak and was holding on to dark and depressed emotions on set. I received it," he said, expressing his affection. He said, "I didn't talk much about work (with Rain). He told me that he was a good actor and a good actor to match on set."
Lim Ji-yeon said, "I was filming 'House with a Courtyard' before the release of my previous work. Since I was playing the role of an assailant, I wanted to play the role of a victim this time. I wanted to see it, I wanted to know it. It's not revealed on the outside, but I definitely had a desire to be Sang-eun even if I was standing still. I wanted this to be mine."
Regarding her impression of working with Kim Tae-hee, Lim Ji-yeon said, "There are definitely moments when you feel a sense of identity when a woman of a different color shares it.
