Singer Ayumi said she was diagnosed with hypothyroidism while preparing for pregnancy.
Ayumi revealed this on Channel A's 'I Am a Body Season 2', which aired on the 22nd.
On this day's broadcast, the specialist said, "These days, modern people say 'I'm tired' a lot. There is an important body part that you shouldn't miss. It's the thyroid gland."
He added, "The thyroid gland is located in the center of our neck. The thyroid gland weighs 15 to 20 grams and is a very small organ. What we need to live is energy. It is an important organ that produces an important hormone called thyroid hormone for energy metabolism."
The specialist explained, "The action of thyroid hormone is, simply put, metabolism in our body. Metabolism refers to all activities in which our body consumes energy. Even mental problems cause depression."
Thyroid cancer was the number one cancer incidence in 2020. Ayumi confessed, "I think I did really well today. I did a prenatal test because I was preparing for a baby, and I was told there was a risk of hypothyroidism, so I'm taking medicine. I think I did really well today."
Regarding hypothyroidism, the specialist said, “The thyroid gland is a boiler switch that controls the body’s metabolism. This is me,” he explained.
"Because the body is cold, blood pressure drops and the body trembles. The limbs are cold and there is nothing to eat, but there are symptoms of gaining weight. Stress can cause problems," he said.
Regarding hyperthyroidism, the specialist said, “I can think of myself as being in a sauna. I came home and the temperature inside the house is 70 degrees. revealed
Before recording, Ayumi wrote a checklist for correcting hypothyroidism. He laughed, saying, “I am always depressed and have severe emotional ups and downs, but everything applies. I am not depressed and always happy.” He added, “Except for that, fatigue seems to keep building up.”
Ayumi, who married an older businessman Kwon Ki-bum last year, is often told that she looks tired. He said, "I'm not tired at all, but I hear 'Why do you look so tired? Are you okay?' Everyone is worried. But I'm really happy."
