SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'The Devil' announced the intense return of the 'Kim Eun-hee genre'. The first episode ended with Kim Tae-ri, who was shocked and terrified after seeing the ghost.

The first episode of 'Ghost', which aired on the 23rd (Nielsen Korea), recorded 9.9% of households nationwide, 10.8% of households in the metropolitan area, and a peak of 12.8% at the moment. It ranked first in the same time slot and all Friday programs. The 2049 audience rating, which is a key indicator of channel competitiveness and topicality, also recorded 4.1%, ranking first in the same time period.

Koo Mo (played by Jin Seon-gyu) lost his life under the control of a demon that looked just like him. Gu San-yeong (played by Kim Tae-ri) finally sees a ghost. The densely stacked mysteries aroused curiosity. Folklore materials such as red ribbons, jade hairpins, black rubber bands, blue pottery pieces, glass jars, and gold strings were alluded to as clues that spark questions, stimulating fresh curiosity.

Kim Tae-ri and Oh Jeong-se's acting made me immerse myself in the story. Kim Tae-ri infused the reality of youth living more diligently than anyone else in the face of San-young, who is preparing for the civil service exam while taking responsibility for her livelihood with various part-time jobs on behalf of her mother Gyeong-moon (played by Park Ji-young), who has no 'work head'. On the other hand, in just a few scenes where he turns into a demon, he exudes an eerie aura just by moving, raising expectations for the 'two-faced' acting that will be in full swing in the future. Oh Jeong-se, who plays Professor Yeom Hae-sang, who steadfastly preached the value of folklore even among students who complained that he was a “crazy professor who can see ghosts,” continued his serious yet delicate acting. The traces of the years of struggling to prevent an unfair and painful death could be read even on the face with no emotional ups and downs.

Upon hearing the news of the death of his father, Koo Mo, who he thought had passed away, San-young was led by his mother to Hwawonjae, where the funeral was held. As it turns out, the mother has been hiding the fact of the divorce and lying to her daughter that her father died in an accident. However, it was not enough to make Gangmo a dead person for a long time, and he threw away the only keepsake he left for his daughter, saying, “Don’t even touch this family item. I hate it horribly,” he said, revealing strong emotions. San-yeong was frustrated because she didn't know why her mother had hidden her father's existence and was terrified of her father, but she couldn't ask her mother any more because of her weak heart.

The chaotic situation in San-young's daily life continued the next day, even though it was exhausting. San-young went to deliver food to the construction site, and met Yeom Hae-sang, who came to identify cultural assets there. The previous day, he met in front of Hwawonjae and asked, "Are you Professor Koo Kang-mo's daughter?" Then he said, “He has a demon attached to him. It has grown bigger (than yesterday)” and added a strange story, “Are there any dead people around you who you hate or want to disappear?”

However, a series of deaths occurred around Sanyeong. Hong-sae Lee (played by Hong Kyung) and Moon-chun Seo (played by Won-hae Kim) of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Violent Crime Investigation Unit came to inform San-young that the voice phishing criminal (played by Kim Seong-gyu), who extorted the deposit from San-young's house, was dead and asked for San-young's alibi. It wasn't just this. While San-young fell asleep in the house where her best friend Semi (played by Yang Hye-ji) moved into, the body of one of the hidden middle school students who opened the window and took pictures was also found dead.

It was only then that San-young remembered the warning from the sea that “people around her will die” and started investigating the strange phenomenon that was happening to her together with him. According to Hae-hae, someone could die again if they did not listen to why the ghosts that were attached to the hidden camera criminal students remained here. The hidden camera criminal student San-yeong visited was extremely frightened. A girl's cry is heard on the phone from a friend named 'Jung Hyeon-woo', who recently died by jumping off the school roof. The moment he heard the story, San-young, who had denied the existence of the ghost, finally froze on the spot when he saw the 'Ghost of Hyeonu' bleeding in the mirror. “Watch out for the door. As Hae-hae said, “The inside and outside of the door are different worlds”, the ghost stood in front of the open front door.

The evil spirit that controlled the oral hair to kill itself became attached to Sanyeong through the 'red ribbon' left as a keepsake. He granted her latent desire and increased the size of her shadow. When the voice phishing criminal was released due to insufficient evidence, the demon that escaped from San-young's body manipulated him and hanged himself, just like the mouthpiece. Hae-hae, who received a letter from Kang's mother saying, "If I die, please help my daughter, San-yeong," as if expecting her own death, saw the demon that killed her mother a few decades ago from San-yeong. I wondered what the next step would be for Hae-hae, who finally found the demon, why Kang-mo left the ominous object to her daughter, whom she had not met for a long time, and what the next target of the demon who fulfilled San-young's desire would be.
