Former Country Kko Kko Star Shin Jung-hwan Transforms into Restaurant Owner After 16-Year Hiatus

Shin Jung-hwan, a former member of the popular group Country Kko Kko, has revealed his new life as a restaurant owner after marrying a non-celebrity 12 years his junior.

On the 29th, the YouTube channel 'Human Story' released a video titled 'Why Former Star Shin Jung-hwan Works at a Restaurant After 16 Years of Reflection.' In the video, Shin shares his daily routine as he heads to his restaurant near Gunja-dong, Seoul.

He disclosed that the restaurant, which opened a month and a half ago, has already achieved a monthly revenue of 100 million KRW. Shin explained, "I wanted customers to first experience the authenticity of the taste, so I avoided using my name to prevent any negative effects." He emphasized, "I even removed my name from the sign so people wouldn't know I was running it."

Shin also candidly discussed the changes in his life. Reflecting on his heyday, he said, "I was probably the second person after Andre Kim to drive a white Bentley." He now drives a compact car, explaining, "I'm not at an age where I need to impress anyone. It's convenient for parking and offers many benefits."

During his 16-year hiatus, Shin expressed deep regret, stating, "I avoided crowded places and sat with my back to people in restaurants because I brought this upon myself in my youth." He added, "My family and friends suffered more than I did. My parents were especially affected," showing a moment of emotional pause.

Reflecting on his past, Shin admitted, "In my youth, I thought I was the center of the world and that it wouldn't function without me. I unknowingly became complacent with success because people around me kept saying, 'You're the best.'"

He also mentioned the numerous business proposals he received during Country Kko Kko's peak, saying, "I was offered many franchise deals, but I was advised against it due to potential image issues. I agreed, but looking back, it could have been a huge success," he laughed.

When young customers in their 20s failed to recognize him at his restaurant, Shin expressed relief, saying, "It's fortunate." He shared his future plans, stating, "I want to make my name known through content and platforms that today's young people can relate to."

In conclusion, Shin stated, "As 5, 10, 15 years passed, I became more resilient. The phrase 'This too shall pass' has been the most helpful. I won't let the rest of my life fade away."

Shin Jung-hwan debuted with the group Roo'ra in 1994 and gained immense popularity with Country Kko Kko. However, he halted his activities in 2010 due to controversies involving overseas gambling and false explanations about 'dengue fever.' After a long period of reflection, he is now focusing on personal content and business ventures.
