Comedian Jang Do-yeon Discusses Possibility of Becoming a 'Voluntary Single Mother'
During the episode, Jang Do-yeon, along with Choi Daniel, Ahn Jae-hyun, Lee Da-hee, and Kyung Soo-jin, shared an honest conversation about marriage and childbirth over dinner.
When Choi Daniel asked, "Don't you hear people telling you to get married during holidays?", Jang Do-yeon replied, "I've never felt that pressure. It's always been like, 'You know what's best for you.'" She added, "But now that I'm turning forty, there's a subtle vibe of 'Really? No one? There must be someone?'" which brought laughter.
In response, Jang Do-yeon revealed, "When I asked my mom what it would be like to have and raise a child, she said she'd help if I was serious about it," and mentioned that her mom suggested the idea of becoming a 'voluntary single mother' like Japanese broadcaster Sayuri.
Jang Do-yeon added, "My mom said, 'Let's give it a try,' and that oddly gave me strength." Choi Daniel was surprised, asking, "So, you're saying have a child even if you don't get married?" Lee Da-hee also showed agreement.
Jang Do-yeon described the process of self-administering injections above her navel at the same time every day for a week. "I set an alarm and gave myself the shots. Once, during a break in filming, the alarm went off, and I managed to give myself the shot in five seconds. When you're in a hurry, you can do anything," she shared.
On the last day of injections, Jang Do-yeon participated in a basketball program. "I wasn't supposed to exert myself, but running made my stomach hurt. I crouched by the goalpost and said, 'Sorry, eggs,'" she recounted, causing laughter.
