'I Am SOLO: Love Continues' Sparks Debate Over Dutch Pay in Relationships

The latest episode of 'I Am SOLO: Love Continues' has stirred up a debate after contestant Sunja from the 24th season declared, "I absolutely cannot date a man who insists on Dutch pay."

Airing on the 16th on SBS Plus and ENA, the show features experienced singles embarking on their second dates. In this episode, Youngho from the 18th season goes on a 2:1 date with Sunja from the 24th season and another Sunja from the 25th season.

During the date, Youngho takes the vegetarian Sunja to a Jeju-style clam noodle restaurant. As they dine, the conversation naturally shifts to their views on dating. Youngho asks, "Is there anything that makes you lose interest in someone, no matter how much you like them?" Sunja responds firmly, "I can't date a man who insists on splitting the bill."

The 25th season Sunja cautiously suggests, "Could it mean something like, 'I paid last time, so you pay this time?'" However, the 24th season Sunja reiterates, "Some people insist on taking turns paying. It's not that I won't pay, but I expect them to handle it reasonably." Watching this unfold, MC Defconn explains, "It's not about making the other person pay every time, but rather not wanting to split everything 50:50."

As the discussion heats up, the 24th season Sunja adds, "If we're just starting to date and he says, 'You pay,' it makes me think he doesn't care about impressing me." Youngho lightens the mood with a playful skit, saying, "Why are you so upset? Did this happen recently? Sorry, I'll send you the money back."

The 25th season Sunja then asks Youngho about his own deal-breakers. Youngho replies, "When my kindness is taken for granted, that's when I lose interest. If I notice that, I end things immediately." The Sunjas nod thoughtfully, leaving viewers curious about whether Youngho will develop a stronger connection with one of them or continue pursuing the popular contestant, Yeongja from the 25th season.
