YouTuber Cho Kogi Opens Up About Life After Divorce on 'X's Private Life'

On the 5th episode of TV CHOSUN's reality show 'X's Private Life', airing on the 14th at 10 PM, '7-year divorcee' Yu Gyeol-ip (Yu Yerin) appears in the studio, shedding tears as she watches the daily life of her 'X' (ex-husband) Cho Kogi (Choi Beom-kyu) unfold after their divorce.

In the VCR, Cho Kogi reminisces about his first meeting with Yu Gyeol-ip, their premarital pregnancy, and their marriage life spent together 24/7, including parenting. As he opens up about the divorce process, MC Kim Gura empathizes, saying, “Divorce stress ranks in the top 1 or 2,” enhancing the immersion with his 'experienced' perspective. Cho Kogi then shares, “Now, I feel like I’m living for my daughter Sol-ip,” calmly portraying his life as a 'single dad.'

Early in the morning, he tenderly ties Sol-ip’s hair for school, revealing, “I had to practice with a wig because I’m raising a girl alone,” adding a touch of poignancy. After sending his daughter to school, he shares, “I got a forklift license a year ago,” indicating his efforts towards a new life. He explains, “For me, parenting is the top priority, so I chose forklift work for better time management,” and adds, “My parents divorced when I was 12, and I spent a lot of time alone at home. I didn’t want my child to experience that,” evoking a sense of empathy. Watching this, Yu Gyeol-ip comments, “He seems to have improved,” and MCs Jang Yoon-jung and Jung Kyung-mi nod in agreement, acknowledging him as a thoughtful and decent man.

Later, Cho Kogi visits a construction site for a forklift test and converses with the site supervisor. When asked if he is married, Cho Kogi replies, “I’m raising my child alone after a divorce,” to which the supervisor responds, “Same here!” forming a bond of understanding. MC Kim Gura humorously remarks, “Divorce connections! You can’t ignore school ties, regional ties, or divorce ties,” bringing laughter. The supervisor advises, “Think of your daughter and put your pride aside for work,” and Cho Kogi agrees, “That’s the most important thing.” Yu Gyeol-ip eventually breaks into tears, admitting, “He’s different from before… Seeing him like this makes my heart complicated.”
