Kim Jae-won Joins 'Yumi's Cells 3' as New Romantic Lead Opposite Kim Go-eun

Kim Jae-won shares his excitement about starring alongside Kim Go-eun in the romance drama, following in the footsteps of Ahn Bo-hyun and Park Jin-young.

On the afternoon of the 7th, a press conference for the TVING original series 'Yumi's Cells Season 3' was held at The Link Seoul Tribute Portfolio Hotel Wedding in Guro-gu, Seoul. Attending the event were actors Kim Go-eun, Kim Jae-won, and director Lee Sang-yeop.

'Yumi's Cells 3' follows the story of Yumi, played by Kim Go-eun, a star writer who experiences unexpected love and emotions through a surprising new character in her otherwise mundane life.

Kim Jae-won takes on the role of Soon-rok, Yumi's PD, who brings excitement to her monotonous life. In previous seasons, Ahn Bo-hyun and Park Jin-young played Kim Go-eun's romantic interests. Kim Jae-won expressed his honor in joining the series, saying, "It's a great honor to be part of a work that has received so much love and attention. The character Soon-rok is beloved by fans of the original work, which added some pressure, but I tried my best to portray him well."

He added, "As a rookie actor, this is my first time taking on such a significant role. I followed the lead of Go-eun, who has more experience, and naturally played the younger man role. I learned a lot during the process." When playfully asked to send a message to Ahn Bo-hyun and Park Jin-young, he humorously replied, "In the end, I'll take good care of writer Yumi."

Reflecting on when he first heard about his casting, Kim Jae-won said, "I felt like I made it. I was so grateful. It felt like a stroke of luck that I could portray Soon-rok, a character beloved by fans. I was excited to work with the talented cast, director, and crew."

Regarding the styling of his character, Kim Jae-won explained, "In the original work and script, Soon-rok's key features are his hairstyle and glasses. These aren't just fashion elements; wearing glasses at work reflects his desire to appear more composed. At home, his relaxed, curly-haired look gives off a puppy-like vibe. We paid a lot of attention to his hairstyle to highlight this contrast, and I discussed it extensively with the hair team."

'Yumi's Cells 3' will premiere on TVING at 6 PM on the 13th, followed by its first broadcast on tvN at 8:50 PM.
