Comedian Lee Su-ji's Satirical Video on Kindergarten Teachers Goes Viral, Sparking Social Discussion
On April 7, Lee Su-ji uploaded a video titled 'The Never-Ending 24 Hours of Kindergarten Teacher Lee Min-ji [Human Documentary: The Real Extreme Job]' on her YouTube channel 'Hot Issue Ji.'
In the video, Lee Su-ji plays the role of a kindergarten teacher named Lee Min-ji in a mockumentary style.
As 'Teacher Yoon-seul,' Lee Su-ji humorously and empathetically portrays the challenging realities faced by kindergarten teachers, responding with a smile to endless demands and complaints from parents.
One parent requests, “Please use eucalyptus wipes instead of cheap ones because my child's skin is sensitive,” while another asks, “Please assign my child to a class based on their MBTI.” Lee Su-ji responds cheerfully, “Yes, I'll make sure to take care of that. Don't take it to heart.” To enhance the dramatic effect, she even stages a scene where blood flows from her ears, highlighting the teachers' struggles in a comical yet poignant manner.
Furthermore, when a parent comments, “The iPhone vibe is better,” Lee Su-ji reveals, “I used to have a Galaxy phone, but I switched to an iPhone based on the parents' feedback. I bought it on a 36-month installment plan.”
After the video's release, current and former teachers expressed strong empathy, saying, “Reality is harsher than the video,” and “This is a toned-down version.”
Within two days of its release, the video surpassed 2.4 million views as of April 9, raising awareness about the harsh working conditions of kindergarten teachers and the issue of parental overreach.
