Lee Kyung-kyu and Ahn Jung-hwan Embark on a Heartwarming Journey in 'Parenting Intern'
Premiering on November 9, tvN STORY's new show 'Parenting Intern' is a reality growth entertainment program where inexperienced grandfathers-to-be spend a day with children, learning the ropes of childcare from scratch. Lee Kyung-kyu and Ahn Jung-hwan, who were unable to fully participate in their children's growth due to their career peaks coinciding with their kids' childhoods, embark on this project to prepare for their future grandchildren. Actress Nam Bo-ra, the eldest of 13 siblings and an expectant mother, adds depth and relatability with her narration, while Kim Gu-ra, who is deeply involved in raising his youngest daughter, joins as a field assistant to enhance the fun.
In the first episode, the two 'interns' receive babysitter training before diving into the real deal. They revisit their childcare memories from 30 and 20 years ago, respectively, to train their basic attitudes and learn the 'Ten Commandments of Parenting Interns.' Lee Kyung-kyu's first mission involves simultaneously caring for a 9-month-old baby and a 46-month-old child. Amidst the relentless tasks of feeding, diaper changing, and napping, the 'entertainment godfather' faces unexpected situations, promising plenty of laughs. Ahn Jung-hwan takes on the challenge of one-on-one care for a 28-month-old child, bringing various childcare items and engaging in activities tailored to the child's perspective. It remains to be seen if he can capture the child's heart as he once did the nation's on the field.
Ahn Jung-hwan discovered a new side of himself while interacting with the child, stating, "I feel like I've seen another version of myself." The production team was also surprised by his unexpectedly gentle voice and problem-solving skills, adding to the intrigue. His national-level stamina, essential for childcare, raises expectations. From energetic play to child-specific responses, all eyes are on whether he can grow from a novice intern to a childcare expert.
The production team shared, "These two prospective 'grandfathers,' who were once refused by their daughters to take care of their children, have taken on a significant challenge. As soon as they enter the field, they face a much larger wall than expected. However, they continue to persevere and grow through their interactions with the children. Enjoy the struggles of the two 'interns' and find healing and warmth through empathy. Please join us for the first broadcast."
tvN STORY's 'Parenting Intern' premieres on Thursday, November 9, at 8 PM.
