Yuna Kim Transforms into a Ballerina in New Google Campaign Directed by Shin Woo-seok
Kakao Entertainment announced the release of the Google campaign 'Our Queen is back,' directed by Shin Woo-seok. This special project features figure skating legend Yuna Kim and ballet icon Kang Sue-jin. It will be unveiled on Google Korea's YouTube channel on Monday, the 6th, and on the official Dolphin Kidnappers YouTube channel on Tuesday, the 7th. The teaser video, which shows Yuna Kim in a ballet costume instead of skates, has already garnered significant attention.
'Our Queen is back' showcases Yuna Kim reinterpreting her legendary short program 'Dance of Death' through ballet choreography. Fans are eagerly anticipating how the familiar sight of Yuna Kim on the ice will transform into a ballerina, and how the iconic 'Dance of Death' will be reborn as a ballet performance. With the participation of Korea's representative ballerina Kang Sue-jin, there is heightened interest in the magical performance they will create together. In addition to the main film featuring Yuna Kim's ballet performance, a variety of content will be released, including a BTS (Behind The Scenes) video of the project's making and five short-form videos capturing episodes before and after Yuna Kim's ballet performance.
This project was born from a strategic collaboration with Google. The process of reinterpreting 'Dance of Death' into ballet involved using Google's Gemini, with ballerina Kang Sue-jin overseeing and participating throughout the project. Experts in choreography, stage design, and costume design also utilized Gemini for choreography composition, stage movement, and ballet costume design.
Yuna Kim herself used Gemini to analyze and refine ballet movements during her practice, demonstrating that the project is not just about creating videos with AI but about experts in various fields using AI technology to express their creativity. Director Shin Woo-seok stated, "I hope this video inspires everyone to pursue their potential without giving up on their life goals due to money, time, or competition. Yuna Kim's passionate practice and transformation into a ballerina should be a special gift for many fans."
