Veteran Actor Shin Goo's Dedication Moves Co-Star Jang Young-nam to Tears on 'Day & Night'
The MBN show 'Kim Joo-ha's Day & Night' aired on the 28th, featuring guests Jang Young-nam and Jang Hyun-sung.
During the broadcast, Jang Young-nam and Jang Hyun-sung shared behind-the-scenes stories from their play 'French Safe.' They revealed that their decision to join the play was heavily influenced by their esteemed senior, Shin Goo. Jang Hyun-sung expressed, "I felt it was a precious opportunity to work with Shin Goo. It was a must."
Jang Hyun-sung added, "There is a resonance and comfort in watching senior actors who have quietly walked their acting paths for so long."
She continued, "Shin Goo said, 'Wasn't the script given early so we could memorize it?' It makes me reflect and brings tears to my eyes," she said, her eyes welling up. Jang Young-nam added, "He shines on stage. This is what beauty is."
Born in 1936, Shin Goo is Korea's oldest active actor. In 2022, during the rerun of the play 'Last Session,' he was hospitalized due to health issues and diagnosed with heart failure, leading to a pacemaker implantation. In 2023, he appeared on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' discussing his battle with heart failure, saying, "I'm grateful to be breathing. I have a pacemaker that regulates my heartbeat."
