Russian Daughter-in-Law Reflects on First Meeting with Mother-in-Law on MBN's 'Dongchimi'

Russian daughter-in-law Go Mi-ho reminisced about her first meeting with her mother-in-law.

On the October 21st episode of MBN's 'Dongchimi', the topic of foreign daughters-in-law was discussed, featuring Go Mi-ho and her mother-in-law reflecting on their early days of marriage.

Go Mi-ho recalled her first visit to her in-laws, saying, "I went to greet her, but my mother-in-law didn't come out of her room." Her mother-in-law explained, "My son said he was bringing his girlfriend, but when I heard she was Russian, I was shocked. It felt like the sky was falling, and I felt like I was losing my son."

She continued, "I thought we wouldn't be able to communicate well, and it was hard to accept. Even when they said they were coming to the house, I told them not to come. I didn't want to see her."

The mother-in-law also shared details about their first encounter. She said, "When they came home, I just went into my room. My son insisted I at least see her face, so I eventually came out." She added, "My son cried at that time." Go Mi-ho also noted, "It wasn't an easy situation."

Reflecting on her opposition to the marriage, the mother-in-law said, "Even though my son said she was the one he loved, it was hard to accept."

She explained, "My son said, 'If you do this, I'll register the marriage,' which worried me more." She added, "They weren't financially prepared, so I stopped the credit card I had given them for tough times. They went through a lot."

The situation gradually improved. The mother-in-law shared, "When he brought her to a family gathering, she didn't say much at first." She continued, "The family said she was even better than my son, as she spoke beautifully and fit in well. That's when my heart started to soften."

Go Mi-ho also mentioned, "My father-in-law was supportive from the beginning," reflecting on the atmosphere at the time. The conversation also touched on the present. The mother-in-law expressed her changed perspective, saying, "Now, she's doing so well."
