The episode featured two new chefs: Park Shin-yang, a beloved actor known for numerous hit dramas, and Yano Shiho, a top Japanese model and wife of Choo Sung-hoon. Their current lives and routines were full of surprises.
Yano Shiho, true to her status as a top model, amazed viewers with her sleek physique at 50, wearing leggings. She began her day with advanced yoga poses, including a handstand without support, showcasing her dedication to fitness. Holding a yoga instructor certification, Yano Shiho credits yoga for maintaining her figure over the years. Her positive mindset, dubbed 'Shiho's thinking', and a healthy macrobiotic diet are also key to her well-being.
Yano Shiho's candidness and affection for her husband Choo Sung-hoon were also highlights. She humorously revealed, "I don't have menopause, but Choo Sung-hoon takes menopause medication every morning," and joked about feeding him foods that boost vitality. To celebrate their anniversary, she recreated the 'Chicken Nanban' dish she made for him 15 years ago, bringing tears to her eyes when Choo Sung-hoon recognized the taste immediately.
Park Shin-yang, a renowned Korean actor, joined the show as a chef. He had to halt his acting career after a severe back injury during the filming of 'Lovers in Paris', which led to emergency surgery and ongoing health issues. Since his last drama 'Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho' in 2019, Park Shin-yang has not acted.
Appearing in a work outfit stained with paint, Park Shin-yang surprised everyone by living in a container inside a large warehouse in Andong, Gyeongbuk. His lifestyle, including riding an electric scooter around the warehouse, led the show's cast to jokingly worry if he had fallen on hard times. However, his passion for expression couldn't be contained, and he turned to painting, inspired by a friend from his Russian study days. Park Shin-yang is set to hold an exhibition at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, a first for an actor-turned-painter.
He prepared a meal for those helping with his exhibition, showcasing his 'man's cooking' style with bold knife skills and no measurements. Park Shin-yang shared the story of his dear friend, Russian actor Kirill Kyro, who inspired him to paint. Kirill sent a video message, expressing mutual sentiments.
Overcome with emotion, Park Shin-yang said, "I might cry while speaking," as he was touched by his friend's voice. He left a heartfelt message for Kirill, "Thank you, Kirill. It's so good to see you. I'll invite you to Korea. Let's meet soon." The enduring friendship between these two national actors was heartwarming. Meeting unexpected figures like Park Shin-yang and Yano Shiho on 'New Release Pyeonstorang' made for a special episode. KBS 2TV's 'New Release Pyeonstorang' airs every Friday at 8:30 PM.
