Park Shin-yang's Life as a Painter: 200 Paintings Over 13 Years
Park Shin-yang resides in a small container inside a warehouse in Andong, Gyeongbuk, surrounded by his artwork. Immersed in his work as a painter, he has created over 200 pieces over 13 years and is planning an exhibition.

The Meaning Behind the Paintings
Park explained the significance of his paintings. Regarding a donkey painting, he said, "I painted it in 14 hours and couldn't get up for three months. While painting it, I wrote 'a donkey that keeps moving forward even as its nose wears away.' I often thought about not wanting to slack off in life, which is why the donkey came to mind."

He also showcased a painting of a matador, reflecting his identity as an actor. "A matador fights bulls. I felt like I was fighting with expression," he explained.

What Led Park Shin-yang to Pick Up the Brush?
Health issues were a factor in Park's decision to start painting. He shared, "I injured my back during 'Lovers in Paris,' and after surgery for a herniated disc, I was unable to get up due to complications." Despite undergoing emergency surgery and continuing his acting career, his health deteriorated further, leading to hyperthyroidism, making normal activities challenging.

Park said, "I pondered what to do next and began painting." After 13 years of dedicated work, he announced, "I have curated my works and will exhibit them at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Gallery."
