Olympic Skater Choi Min-jeong Shares Heartfelt Story of Her Mother's Sacrifices on 'You Quiz on the Block'
Olympic short track speed skater Choi Min-jeong opened up about her mother's sacrifices on the recent episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block'.

The episode, aired on the 18th, featured Choi Min-jeong and her mother, who shared their touching story.

Choi's mother recalled the challenging times when she had to raise two daughters alone while covering training and living expenses. She said, "I tried doing part-time jobs, but it was too difficult. I had to take my child to practice, so it wasn't easy," adding, "In the end, I had to sell our house to afford the training fees."

She continued, "Min-jeong once asked me, 'Why does our house keep getting smaller?' and I told her, 'It's because of you.' There was no other way to get the money," she added.

The family moved 12 times to support Choi's training. Her mother shared, "I prepared 3 to 4 lunchboxes daily. I drove her to the ice rink, school, and home, covering 250,000 km over 10 years," she revealed. "It was overwhelming to raise them alone because I had to do everything myself."

Choi Min-jeong expressed her gratitude, saying, "If someone asked me to live like my mom, I don't think I could. I think it was harder for her than for me. She would wake up earlier than me to prepare 3 to 4 lunchboxes, and after my training, she would stay up late doing housework."

She continued, "I often wondered, 'When does my mom ever rest or sleep?'" expressing her heartfelt appreciation. Her mother responded, "I felt like my struggles were a luxury because my daughter was working so hard," showing her deep affection and moving the audience.
