'After School Teacher Taeri' debuted on September 22 with a 1.5% rating, but subsequent episodes saw a decline, with the fourth episode hitting a low of 0.9%. This show marked Kim Tae-ri's first regular appearance on a variety show since her debut in the 2016 film 'The Handmaiden', but the ratings have been disappointing.

In the second episode, a conflict between Kim Tae-ri and actor Choi Hyun-wook, who joined as an assistant teacher, became a talking point. Choi missed preparation time while playing with children, leaving Kim to handle the class preparations alone. Tensions rose during a meal as discussions about the class led to a chilly atmosphere, and further issues arose during outdoor classes and script readings.

During a class review, the difference in expectations was evident. Kim criticized Choi's performance as an assistant teacher, while Choi expressed frustration over not being recognized for his efforts, even shedding tears on camera. Park's impressive skills in beauty care, along with the positive images of co-stars Lee Sang-yi and Kwak Dong-yeon, have been well-received.

'Bogum Magical' aligns with its healing variety concept, focusing on the growth and interaction of its cast in a calm setting, earning viewer empathy. Its emphasis on natural relationships and subtle dopamine hits is seen as a strength.

Both shows feature actors prominently, but their differing approaches have led to contrasting outcomes. The emphasis on conflict versus maintaining a steady narrative flow has been reflected in their ratings.

As actor-centered variety shows become more common, it's clear that casting alone doesn't guarantee success. Ultimately, the quality and direction of the program are key factors in attracting viewers.
