EXID's Hye-Yeon Kang and Solji Reunite as 'The King of Singers 3' Top 7
On the morning of the 11th, a press conference for MBN's 'The King of Singers 3' was held at the Stanford Hotel Korea in Sangam. Attendees included the TOP 7 finalists: Hong Ji-yoon, Cha Ji-yeon, Lee Soo-yeon, Koo Soo-kyung, Hye-Yeon Kang, and Solji. Kim Tae-yeon was absent due to school commitments.
The event drew attention as former EXID member Hye-Yeon Kang and current member Solji sat together. Hye-Yeon Kang ranked 5th, while Solji took 7th place. Hye-Yeon Kang shared, "I only met Solji once during a spin-off show and we were just acquaintances." Solji added, "Many people are curious about our relationship. When I joined EXID, Hye-Yeon had already left, so we never met at the company. We only had a sense of familiarity from the spin-off show."
Reunited through their shared EXID history, the two met again on 'The King of Singers 3'. Hye-Yeon Kang said, "Solji greeted me warmly after the preliminary recording, which made me want to get closer, but there was no opportunity." She continued, "As the rounds progressed and the number of participants decreased, we talked a lot, even about the group. Being in the TOP 7 together feels special, and I'm excited for the journey ahead with Solji."
Solji also praised Hye-Yeon Kang, saying, "I want to applaud her persistence and determination. Watching her performance yesterday brought tears to my eyes. As a colleague, I wholeheartedly support her endeavors and look forward to getting closer through future concerts and performances."
Meanwhile, the final episode of 'The King of Singers 3', aired on the 10th, achieved a peak viewership rating of 12.4% and a nationwide rating of 11.7%, according to Nielsen Korea. The TOP 7 will appear in the upcoming MBN Korea-Japan music competition '2026 Korea-Japan King of Singers', set to air on April 14th.
