In the latest episode of tvN's weekend drama 'Undercover Miss Hong', aired on the 1st, Park Shin-hye's character, Hong Geum-bo, who now leads the Yeouido Pirates, reaches out to Shin Jung-woo, played by Go Kyung-pyo. This episode unveils the true face and intentions of Shin Jung-woo, who had been shrouded in mystery until now.

Shin Jung-woo is Hong Geum-bo's college senior, lover, and fellow accountant, with whom she shares a long-standing connection. Nine years ago, Hong Geum-bo turned her back on him after being disappointed by his inaction during the Hanmin Securities accounting scandal. The incident left a deep scar on both of them, especially after a fellow accountant involved in the scandal took their own life. As the new president of Hanmin Securities, Shin Jung-woo quickly discovered Hong Geum-bo's true identity as an undercover agent. While he foresaw the impending IMF crisis, he took no action and quietly cooperated with Hong Geum-bo's efforts to prevent Hanmin Securities from submitting false accounting reports to secure government support. Despite his ultimate goal of seizing control of Hanmin Securities, his genuine concern for Hong Geum-bo's safety was revealed. Worried that she might get caught up in the turmoil, Shin Jung-woo persistently tried to persuade her and even met with Yoon Jae-beom, the director of the Securities Supervisory Service, played by Kim Won-hae, to ensure her safety.

Shin Jung-woo has lived with the guilt of not protecting Hong Geum-bo nine years ago. When Kang No-ra, played by Choi Ji-soo, asked if he still had feelings for her, he replied, "No, I just don't want to repeat my regrets," showing his determination not to make the same mistakes again. Eventually, he was dismissed from his position as president of Hanmin Securities according to Hong Geum-bo's plan and accepted the offer to join the Yeouido Pirates. He actively assisted in recovering Hanmin Securities' slush funds and securing shares. He also boldly contacted Chairman Kang Pil-beom, played by Lee Deok-hwa, on behalf of Hong Geum-bo, making a provocative move that solidified the Yeouido Pirates' threatening presence.

Shin Jung-woo has emerged as a key figure in the showdown with Hanmin Securities, becoming a reliable ally for Hong Geum-bo. His unique conviction, which contrasts with his previous pursuit of practicality, and his unwavering sincerity in protecting Hong Geum-bo despite the conflicts and dilemmas stemming from the incident nine years ago, have resonated with viewers. As Shin Jung-woo continues to evolve, audiences are eager to see what he will do next.
