K-Drama 'Prescription for Love' Continues to Captivate Viewers with High Ratings
Last weekend's episodes left a lasting impression with deepening emotions and heartfelt family bonds. Episode 10 achieved a nationwide viewership rating of 17.4% (according to Nielsen Korea), securing the top spot among weekend broadcasts.
Notably, scenes featuring Gong Jung-han (played by Kim Seung-soo) and Yang Dong-ik (played by Kim Hyung-mook) in a joint interview, as well as Gong Dae-han (played by Choi Dae-chul) encountering Yang Dong-sook (played by Jo Mi-ryung) and experiencing psychosomatic pain, peaked at a 19% viewership rating. These moments brought both laughter and tears to viewers, highlighting the memorable scenes from episodes 9 and 10.
Yang Hyun-bin (played by Park Ki-woong) expressed his long-held feelings for Gong Joo-ah (played by Jin Se-yeon). He revealed that his lack of communication during his studies in Argentina was due to shame about his family and an uncertain future. Determined to change for Gong Joo-ah, he confessed, "I can't hide my feelings anymore," causing her to cancel a planned blind date, much to the delight of viewers.
Yang Hyun-bin took on the role of mediator within his family. Tensions arose when his father, Yang Sun-chul (played by Joo Jin-mo), supported rival Gong Jung-han in the merchants' association election, causing a rift with his son Yang Dong-ik. To bridge the gap, Yang Hyun-bin introduced the Argentine tradition of sharing mate tea. Yang Dong-ik expressed his lifelong resentment of being compared to Gong Jung-han, while Yang Sun-chul admitted feeling lonely due to his son's indifference. Under Yang Hyun-bin's guidance, the father and son reconciled, providing both laughter and touching moments.
The intense family feud obstructed the romance between Gong Joo-ah and Yang Hyun-bin. Gong Joo-ah rejected Yang Hyun-bin's confession, saying, "I don't think I love you more than I love my family." Her firm yet sorrowful decision not to hurt her family left viewers feeling sympathetic. The couple's struggle against harsh realities evoked comparisons to a modern-day Romeo and Juliet, heightening anticipation for future episodes.
Episodes 11 and 12 of 'Prescription for Love' will air consecutively on the 8th at 8 PM.
