TV personality Jang Young-ran addresses the severity of wrong-way driving accidents.

In JTBC's 'Han Moon-chul's Black Box Review' (hereafter 'Hanbli'), a wrong-way driving incident that turned a peaceful farm into chaos is featured. The released CCTV footage shows a vehicle recklessly speeding through an intersection and crashing into the farm, capturing the tense moment. The aftermath reveals an overturned vehicle and shattered plants, prompting panelists to remark, "It could have been disastrous if there were pedestrians."

The production team interviews the farm owner about the incident. He recalls, "After hearing consecutive crashes, I went outside to find the scene in chaos," adding that the driver appeared unconscious. The accident destroyed over half of the plants displayed in front of the farm, including rare plants worth tens of millions of won and trees nurtured for over a decade. Jang Young-ran expresses her sympathy, stating, "This cannot be compensated for."

The farm owner estimated the damage at approximately 120 million won and submitted it to the insurance company, which only offered 12 million won, about 10% of the claim. As compensation was delayed, he filed a complaint with the Financial Supervisory Service and lowered his demand to 40 million won to seek realistic compensation. Lawyer Han Moon-chul criticizes the insurance company's assessment process, stating, "Even if proving the damage is challenging, the insurance company should at least consider compensating at cost level."

'Hanbli' also highlights a fatal accident caused by drunk driving. The footage shows a vehicle fleeing a sobriety checkpoint and hitting a pedestrian waiting at a crosswalk. The victim, a father of two, tragically died, and the driver's blood alcohol level was reported at 0.186%, a license-revoking level. Although the driver was initially sentenced to 10 years in prison, the sentence was reduced to 8 years on appeal for reasons deemed unacceptable, sparking outrage among the panelists who exclaimed, "This is infuriating," and "Even 30 years would be too short."

The episode features 'Original Vitamin' Jang Young-ran, who elevates the studio atmosphere with her energetic and straightforward commentary, resonating with viewers.

Meanwhile, 'Hanbli' has been gaining traction. The episode aired on the 11th recorded a 3.5% viewership rating among paid households, the highest since June 2023. It also achieved a target rating of 1.2%, ranking first across all channels in its time slot and setting a new record, showcasing the program's strength.

JTBC's 'Han Moon-chul's Black Box Review' episode 162 will air on the 25th at 8:50 PM.
