'1 Night 2 Days' Tops Ratings with Thrilling Challenges and Stunning Scenery

The popular variety show '1 Night 2 Days' has once again claimed the top spot in its time slot. Former member Jo Se-ho had previously stepped down from the show and other programs like tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' following allegations of gang involvement in December last year. However, he made a surprising comeback just three weeks later with Netflix's 'Driver 4'. The void was filled by the addition of Yoo Seon-ho.

On the episode aired on the 22nd, the KBS 2TV show '1 Night 2 Days Season 4' (hereafter '1 Night 2 Days') showcased the second part of the 'Five Brothers Family Trip' in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The episode achieved a nationwide rating of 8.4% according to Nielsen Korea, securing the top spot in its time slot. A scene featuring Kim Jong-min, Lee Jun, and DinDin overlooking the East Sea from Naeyeonsan recorded a peak rating of 11.4%. The 2049 demographic rating also led its time slot with a 2.1% rating in the metropolitan area.

The '1 Night 2 Days' team moved to their base camp and engaged in a dinner game called 'Sweat Glands Popping Hot Bath Karaoke' to win a feast of crabs. The challenge song was the OST from the 1995 KBS drama 'Men of the Bathhouse', which was unfamiliar to most members except Kim Jong-min, causing them to lose confidence even before their first attempt.

The members used their chances early on to guess the next lyrics, but the difficult lyrics led to repeated failures, and the crabs on the dinner table disappeared one by one, increasing the tension among the five members.

DinDin came to the rescue of the struggling '1 Night 2 Days' team. He bravely submerged himself for 2 minutes and 30 seconds to earn a chance to listen to the entire song, and later ventured out into the freezing -7°C weather to retrieve a hint, showcasing his dedication.

Thanks to DinDin's efforts, the '1 Night 2 Days' team succeeded on their seventh and final attempt, securing the last menu item, Pohang's famous gwamegi. DinDin used his 'One Bite Meal Ticket' to enjoy the crab he missed during the dinner game, piling crab meat onto a spoon and savoring it, much to the envy of the other members.

After dinner, the members participated in a sleeping arrangement game on the second floor of their base camp. The game, 'A Voice from Somewhere', required them to find small speakers throughout six rooms and a hallway to solve a quiz.

Although they needed to combine information from multiple speakers to answer correctly, the members focused on speed and repeatedly submitted incorrect answers, missing the chance to sleep indoors. Ultimately, Lee Jun was the first to solve the first round, and Kim Jong-min answered the second round correctly, securing indoor sleeping arrangements for both.

The remaining three members competed for two spots on the lobby floor. DinDin and Yoo Seon-ho answered the third and fourth rounds correctly, securing the lobby floor spots, while Moon Se-yoon, who failed to answer any questions, ended up sleeping alone in a tent outside.

The next morning, the members gathered in the parking lot for a wake-up mission as instructed by the production team. They had to choose between a 'minibus', 'lighting truck', 'director's car', 'hot spring owner's car', and 'eura chacha' for a 'vehicle selection game'. After careful consideration, they each boarded their chosen vehicle.

The destinations were either a 'restaurant' or a 'scenic spot' in Pohang. Moon Se-yoon and Yoo Seon-ho's vehicle arrived at the 'restaurant', securing an early departure after breakfast, which they celebrated with a hug.

In contrast, the vehicle carrying Kim Jong-min, Lee Jun, and DinDin quickly returned to the parking lot. The 'scenic spot' was indeed Naeyeonsan, Pohang's famous mountain, as the members had guessed. The three began their hike to the Sogeumgang Observatory with somber expressions.

DinDin, who dislikes hiking, grumbled, "Why do I hate hiking so much?" When asked by Lee Jun to choose between 'hiking' and 'ice water diving', he humorously chose 'ice water diving', saying he disliked hiking more.

Nevertheless, DinDin, Kim Jong-min, and Lee Jun persevered and reached their destination. The breathtaking view of Naeyeonsan's scenery, worthy of the 'scenic spot' title, left them in awe, making them forget the hardships of the hike.

The 'Five Brothers Family Trip' in Pohang concluded with the Naeyeonsan hike. The five members demonstrated strong teamwork, successfully completing group missions and providing viewers with plenty of entertainment and laughter throughout the trip.
