KBS2TV's 'Beloved Bandit' Episode 15: A New King Rises Amidst Chaos and Betrayal

A tyrannical ruler steps down, paving the way for a new era of peace under his brother's reign, only to be threatened by the blade of a vengeful traitor.

On the night of the 21st, at 9:20 PM, KBS2TV's 'Beloved Bandit' (directed by Ham Young-gul, Lee Garam/written by Lee Sun) aired its 15th episode, depicting the dramatic transition of power as Lee Gyu (played by Ha Seok-jin) abdicates and Lee Yeol (played by Moon Sang-min) ascends the throne.

In this episode, Lee Gyu, poisoned by the toxic plant Yeonsukhwa, exhibits madness, attempting to massacre citizens upon seeing masks of butchers hung throughout the city. However, Lee Yeol and his soldiers manage to isolate him within the palace. Hong Eun-jo (played by Nam Ji-hyun) confronts the hallucinating Lee Gyu, reminding him that a ruler must care deeply for his people. Moved by the teachings of the loyal Hong Min-jik (played by Kim Seok-hoon), Lee Gyu sheds tears and decides to pass the throne to Lee Yeol.

As the new king, Lee Yeol declares that anyone who belittles the bandit Gil-dong is a traitor, pardoning all associated with him in a bold move. While focusing on state affairs, Lee Yeol reunites with Hong Eun-jo, reaffirming their affection.

Hong Eun-jo, while urging Lee Yeol to leave the palace more often, appears in beautiful attire, sparking excitement. Lee Yeol, captivated by her appearance, promises eternal love under the moonlight. Meanwhile, Kang Yun-bok (played by Moon Tae-yu) bids farewell to Geum-nok (played by Song Ji-woo) with a heavy heart, urging her to accept her punishment, leaving a poignant impression.

Peace is short-lived as the traitor Im Sa-hyung (played by Choi Won-young) escapes exile, heightening the tension. Hong Eun-jo, realizing the secret of her soul swapping with Lee Yeol during dangerous moments, vows to protect herself. However, on her way to meet Lee Yeol, she encounters an ominous sign as the bracelet symbolizing their bond breaks.

At that moment, Im Sa-hyung, who has discovered Hong Eun-jo's identity as Gil-dong and seeks revenge, appears and holds a knife to her throat. His fury at Gil-dong for ruining his plans culminates in a cliffhanger, leaving viewers eager for the next episode.
