tvN STORY's 'Lee Ho-sun Counseling Center' Reveals Shocking Verbal Abuse Faced by Working Mom
On the episode aired on the 17th, the theme was 'I'm Suffering Because My Husband Disrespects Me.'
The wife, who shared her story, works in live commerce while raising their 24-month-old son. She revealed that her husband belittles her by saying, "What do you even do?", "You have no work skills", "You can't manage your time", and "Your head's gotten big just because you earn some money."
The situation worsened when he scolded her for crying, asking, "Why are you whining?", leaving the panelists in shock.
The wife further expressed, "I think I'm doing my best at both work and parenting, but since we live with my mother-in-law, who helps with childcare, my husband says, 'You have it easy with childcare.'"
Lee Ho-sun commented, "The biggest issue in this household is that conflicts are resolved through marital relations," adding, "For this couple, it acts as a necessary and sufficient condition, with the husband using physical means to dominate the wife."
Underlying the couple's conflict is the burden placed on the 49-year-old mother-in-law, who looks after the grandchild for 8-10 hours a day. The husband shifts responsibility to the wife, saying, "Don't do broadcasts after 9 PM," and "Women should focus on childcare."
He also mentioned, "When I come home, I feel guilty as a son because I have to be mindful of my mother."
However, Professor Lee Ho-sun pointed out, "The father gets two days off, but the mother doesn't get any rest," and criticized the notion that "the wife should reduce her work so the mother-in-law can rest" as fundamentally flawed.
