Meanwhile, the presence of Shin Jung-woo (played by Go Kyung-pyo), who parted ways with Hong Geum-bo due to an unexpected incident nine years ago, adds a layer of tension. Shin Jung-woo, who has been appointed as the new president of Hanmin Securities, is preparing to join the royal family by discussing marriage with Kang Noh-ra (played by Choi Ji-soo), the daughter of Chairman Kang Pil-beom (played by Lee Deok-hwa), while hiding his true intentions. Having anticipated the IMF crisis, he plans to let Hanmin Securities go bankrupt for his own gain, despite knowing the impending danger. However, the presence of his former lover, Hong Geum-bo, on an undercover mission, becomes an unforeseen variable. Concerned about Hong Geum-bo, Shin Jung-woo resorts to persuasion and threats to send her back to the Securities Supervisory Service.

The conflict between Hong Geum-bo and Shin Jung-woo, which began with an incident nine years ago, remains unresolved. Hong Geum-bo, once a promising accountant, became disillusioned and gave up after the death of a senior and colleague involved in the Hanmin Securities accounting fraud case. She was also deeply disappointed to learn that her lover and colleague at the same accounting firm, Shin Jung-woo, turned a blind eye to the corruption, leading her to turn her back on him. Every time the two clash, the narrative from nine years ago resurfaces, highlighting the deep wounds left by the Hanmin Securities accounting fraud case. As the two characters with opposing interests reveal their past and present cards, viewers are keen to see what unfolds.
