Kim shared insights about her in-laws, stating, "Cooking for the family has become a great joy, much like my mother-in-law. In the past, I was overwhelmed by large family gatherings, but as I age, I find love and mutual care blossoming within them. It fosters a sense of 'family love.'"

In the studio, Kim introduced 'Dangmyeon-guk' as a 'home-cooked' dish. She explained, "My in-laws are from North Korea. Initially, I wondered why they used glass noodles in soup, but now it's a favorite across three generations."

MC Lee Sang-min asked North Korean defector and entrepreneur Lee Soon-sil if she was familiar with the dish. Lee Soon-sil humorously replied, "Your in-laws must have been high-ranking officials in North Korea. It's a dish only the elite could enjoy, not common folk." Kim added, "I've heard my in-laws were quite well-off," drawing attention.

Kim Young-im, celebrated as a 'Gyeonggi Master Singer' for her 'Hoeshimgok,' married the famous comedian Lee Sang-hae, who is eight years her senior, in 1979. They have a daughter, Jung Eun, a Western painter, and a son, Woo Sung, who is married to singer and actress NS Yoon-G (Kim Yoon-ji).
