Actress Moon Ga-young's Philanthropy Transforms Lives in Mexico
International relief organization Cointree, led by CEO Han Young-jun, announced that Moon Ga-young's ongoing support has led to tangible results in Tulum, Mexico. Her contributions have helped establish a foundation for women's independence and child medical support in the shantytown area.
Following her donation of 100 million won to Ewha Medical Center last year, Moon Ga-young has donated an additional 50 million won from the proceeds of her essay collection 'PATA' to Cointree.
Moon Ga-young has actively communicated with the organization to discuss the use of the funds. As a result, the donations have been focused on building a self-sufficiency model that provides stable jobs for local women, including single mothers, promoting economic independence and preventing family breakdowns.
Additionally, her contributions have supported the construction of school restrooms and the establishment of a child emergency treatment system, providing a foundation to protect children from preventable diseases.
Cointree CEO Han Young-jun stated, "Actress Moon Ga-young understands the value of donations more than anyone and is a leader in considering their use and impact." He added that her support has changed the lives of women and created a structure to save children. Quoting a line from Moon Ga-young's film 'If We', "Thank you for being my home back then," he expressed gratitude for her contributions, which have become a sanctuary for local families.
Moon Ga-young's film 'If We' is nearing 2.4 million viewers, continuing its box office success. Her essay collection 'PATA' has also reached its 10th printing, maintaining public interest. Her dedication to giving back to society through her work is drawing increased attention.
