Actor Jung Ho-geun Opens Up About His Spiritual Journey and Family Tragedies
Actor Jung Ho-geun, who has been a shaman for 12 years, revealed his 20-year separation and the heartbreaking story of losing two children.

On the October 5th episode of MBN's 'Special World,' Jung Ho-geun, who debuted in 1984 and gained fame through charismatic roles in dramas like 'Ladies of the Palace,' 'Queen Seondeok,' and 'Gwanggaeto, The Great Conqueror,' shared his reasons for leaving his glamorous acting career to live in a shrine for the past decade.

Jung explained the circumstances that led him to receive a spiritual calling, saying, "I was in pain all over my body. Sometimes, I constantly heard a buzzing sound in my ears, like bees. It was distressing to hear it all day long."

He further elaborated on his family's tragic history, stating, "My closest relative, my grandmother, was a disciple of the gods. Our family has faced many trials due to spiritual afflictions. First, it was my sister, then my younger sister, and finally me. Even if one person in the family is afflicted, it causes chaos, but we had three."

Jung also shared that he has been separated for 20 years, saying, "I fell in love at first sight with my wife, whom I met through a matchmaker. We had one son and two daughters." He mentioned that his family is now in the United States.

He opened up about his children, saying, "We had five children, but our child had pulmonary artery hypertension, which later affected the heart. Even if they survived, their life would not have been long, and they were born with a condition that prevented them from living like ordinary people."

He continued, "I lost my first child, and my youngest son passed away in my arms three days after birth. Sometimes, I miss my eldest daughter and youngest son. It's been 20 years since that happened, and that's why parents say they bury their children in their hearts."
