Director Jang Hang-jun Reflects on Emotional Struggles After 'Rebound' Flop
Appearing on the October 4th episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' Jang candidly shared the pressure he feels ahead of the release of his new film 'The Man Who Lives with the King,' while also opening up about the pain of his previous work's failure.
During the broadcast, Jang recounted, "I spent five years preparing for 'Rebound,' and on the opening day, industry insiders were checking the nationwide box office numbers in real-time. It was devastating," he said. "Who could I blame? I just cried my eyes out."
Ultimately, it was his family that helped him overcome the difficult time. Jang said, "For about a week, I felt a way I had never felt before in my life," adding, "I confessed to my wife, Kim Eun-hee, that I cried on the first day because I was so sad, and she cried with me. Seeing that, our daughter joined in, and the three of us just bawled together."
Meanwhile, Jang shared an unexpected praise text from critic Lee Dong-jin and revealed that actor Park Ji-hoon lost 15kg for his role as Danjong, raising anticipation for his new film.
