Park Jin-hee Returns to KBS with Dual Role in 'Red Pearl'

Actress Park Jin-hee has revealed the compelling reason behind her decision to star in the new daily drama 'Red Pearl.' Previously, she stepped in to replace Go Hyun-jung in the SBS drama 'Return' after Go was embroiled in a controversy with the production team in 2018.

Set to premiere on February 23 at 7:50 PM on KBS 2TV, 'Red Pearl' is a gripping and intense revenge chronicle about two women who return with false identities to uncover the sins and truths hidden within the Adel family.

Park Jin-hee is set to captivate audiences by playing dual roles as twin sisters Kim Myung-hee and Kim Dan-hee. Myung-hee, the elder sister, is a kind-hearted nurse who meets a tragic fate. Meanwhile, Dan-hee, upon discovering the truth behind her sister's incident, chooses a path of relentless revenge, living under her sister's name.

Returning to KBS after a long hiatus since 'The King of Tears, Lee Bang-won,' Park expressed, "The concept of living under another name was intriguing as an actress. It's not just a simple revenge story; it deeply explores how a person can crumble and endure, which was appealing to me."

To portray the dual roles of the twin sisters, Park shared, "It's a role that demands a lot emotionally, so I focused on managing my stamina. I approached Dan-hee and Myung-hee as completely different individuals despite their identical appearances." She added, "I paid attention to external aspects but also worked on differentiating their tone, breathing, and gaze," hinting at a profound transformation in her acting.

Park described Kim Dan-hee with the keywords 'wound,' 'tenacity,' and 'solitude.' She explained, "Dan-hee's actions stem from her wounds, and she possesses a tenacity to push through with those wounds, making her a very solitary character."

Park also spoke about the chemistry with her co-stars, saying, "The set is very intense. I naturally formed a 'womance' with Nam Sang-ji due to our emotional exchanges, and the tension in scenes with Choi Jae-sung and Kim Hee-jung kept me focused."

Finally, Park highlighted the character development as a key point of interest in 'Red Pearl,' urging viewers to follow Dan-hee's choices and their consequences. She added, "Instead of judging someone's choices easily, following the narrative of why they had to make those choices will be more enjoyable. It will surely be a memorable work."

'Red Pearl' is set to air as the successor to 'Intimate Ripley' on February 23 at 7:50 PM.
