Hwang Shin-hye Opens Up About Her Daughter's Reaction to Her Divorce News

Actress Hwang Shin-hye revealed that her daughter struggled after reading about her divorce in the news.

On the October 28th episode of KBS1's 'Hwang Shin-hye's Living Together', Hwang invited psychologist Park Sang-mi to provide counseling for her fellow single mothers.

During the show, Hwang, who divorced in 2005, shared that she had kept the news from her daughter. "I couldn't tell her about the divorce in advance," she cautiously admitted. "She was about to start elementary school and was too young. I was afraid of hurting her, so I didn't bring it up," she explained.

At the time, she told her daughter, "Your dad is abroad for work." Hwang added, "I announced the divorce first, fearing she might hear about it from someone else."

Her daughter discovered the truth in an unexpected way. Hwang shared, "When she was in sixth grade and started using the computer, she searched my name and saw 'divorce' in the related search terms, which led her to click on the article."

Hwang said, "I heard she was deeply shocked by the divorce and struggled alone. She told me, 'I didn't say anything because I was worried you would be more hurt and troubled.'" Despite her own shock, her daughter prioritized her mother's feelings. Hwang added, "She said she felt like dying, and I felt very sorry at that moment."
