Actor Shin Sung-rok Reflects on His Mentor, the Late Director Kim Min-ki, and His Acting Journey
On the October 27th broadcast of KBS1TV's 'Morning Forum - Tuesday Invitation,' Shin Sung-rok appeared to reminisce about the late Kim Min-ki.
During the show, Shin Sung-rok, who has returned to the musical stage with 'The Man in Hanbok,' reflected on his acting journey from his rookie days to the present.
Shin recalled his time at Hakchon, where he gained valuable acting experience before his official debut, remembering Kim Min-ki as a revered mentor and a towering figure in his life.
He shared a poignant memory, saying, "I later found out that Kim Min-ki was waiting for me during a variety show shoot in Daehangno. I feel guilty for not visiting him sooner," bringing a somber mood to the studio.
Overcoming such setbacks, Shin Sung-rok gained recognition with his intense villain role in the drama 'My Love from the Star' and has since built a solid career with dedicated performances in works like 'Kairos.'
He cited 'Kairos,' where he portrayed a grieving father, as one of his most memorable projects, yet expressed his ambition to create even more remarkable works in the future.
Meanwhile, Kim Min-ki, who founded Hakchon in Daehangno in 1991 and nurtured numerous artists, passed away in July 2024 after battling illness. Shin Sung-rok vowed to continue his acting journey on the foundation laid by his mentor.
