Ok-ja, the mother of actor Kim Seung-hyun, has expressed her concerns about their financial situation as her husband approaches retirement, while also sharing her thoughts on negative online comments.

On the 25th, the 'Gwangsan Kim Family' YouTube channel released a video titled "Why Baek Ok-ja Changed Her Name at 69." In the video, Ok-ja revealed her realistic worries about their livelihood following her husband's recent retirement announcement, amidst receiving negative comments.

Previously, in the video, Ok-ja's husband had declared, "I am considering retiring from factory work around May or June. I've been working for nearly 50 years, and my body is reaching its limits." In response, Ok-ja expressed her concerns, saying, "How can I just sit back and do nothing? I need to go out and work," adding, "He keeps talking about going to the mountains. We still have loans... We can't rely on the kids."

Daughter-in-law Jang Jung-yoon mentioned, "Did you see the comments on the last video about Dad's retirement? People didn't say he worked hard or did well; they just asked, 'What will you do for money now?'" addressing the negative comments.

She continued, "Maybe because Dad doesn't dye his hair, he looks a bit... pitiful, and people compare him to Mom." Hearing this, Ok-ja expressed her frustration, saying, "But people say I look like someone who hasn't worked hard. What am I supposed to do? I was born this way."

In a previous video, Ok-ja had mentioned the time when her husband was in detention, and she had to take on the role of the breadwinner. She recalled, "There was a fire at the factory once. At that time, your dad was in detention," adding, "I didn't even have money to buy milk for the kids. I've done everything from factory work to selling side dishes and fruits."

After a family meal, Kim Seung-hyun's parents discussed life after retirement. Ok-ja shared, "Now that he's home and not going to the factory, we plan to hold hands and go to the mountains together." She also mentioned, "Since his shoulders hurt, my husband even helps with the dishes," sharing the heartwarming change in her husband's behavior.
