Comedian Kim Young-chul Reveals the Secret Behind His Diligence on 'You Quiz on the Block'

Comedian Kim Young-chul shared the secret behind his renowned diligence.

On the October 21st episode of tvN's variety show 'You Quiz on the Block,' Kim Young-chul, known for his unwavering dedication, appeared as a guest. He reflected on his challenging childhood and the experiences that shaped him into the person he is today.

During the show, Kim Young-chul revealed, "I had no choice but to be diligent because my parents often fought when I was young. My father would sometimes overturn the table after drinking," he shared, adding the tragic story of losing his brother in a car accident during his senior year of high school.

Despite these hardships, Kim Young-chul thought of his mother's pain. "My mother, who was never loved by her husband and was always hurt by him, lost her eldest son. I didn't want to add to her distress with trivial matters," he explained.

He continued, "In fifth grade, I started delivering newspapers. I did it thinking I could buy rice and help my mom with that money. Once, I skipped delivering newspapers on a rainy day and got scolded harshly. That's when I learned the importance of keeping promises. I began doing small things to help my mom and never skipped school," he said, explaining how diligence became ingrained in him.

Kim Young-chul added, "I've been studying English for 23 years, and I want to commend myself for that." His dedication has led to various opportunities, including English documentaries, lectures, and translations. In 2021, he even ventured into the American comedy scene. Host Yoo Jae-suk praised him, saying, "Thanks to his studies, he's involved in diverse activities. He's a friend with much to learn from," bringing warmth to the show.
