Korean Actor Ryu Si-won Reveals His Math Instructor Wife on TV Show
On the episode aired on the 19th, Ryu Si-won introduced his wife, Lee Ah-young, who is 19 years his junior, to the public for the first time.
Ryu shared, "We're approaching our 6th wedding anniversary, and it felt natural to introduce her on the show." Upon Lee Ah-young's first appearance, co-hosts Hwang Bo-ra and Jung Yi-rang expressed their admiration, saying, "A math teacher? She's so pretty and smart. She's got it all," bringing laughter to the set.
The couple shared their love story, with Lee Ah-young revealing that Ryu used to gift her flowers and handwritten letters during their courtship. Ryu reminisced, "Her image is so pure and innocent, so I gifted her 100 white roses."
Ryu admitted that he once thought having an ideal type was meaningless, but he was drawn to Lee's feminine charm. They met through mutual acquaintances, and he rarely asked for someone's contact first, but he did with her.
Lee, who was open to marriage, eventually decided to break up, believing it was better to end things before getting too attached. They kept in touch sporadically over three years.
Three years after their breakup, Ryu reached out to Lee with a birthday message and suggested they meet for a meal. During their reunion, he confessed his desire to rekindle their relationship.
Lee shared that her busy schedule as a math instructor left her little time for dating, but having known Ryu before made it less daunting.
Despite initial opposition from Lee's mother, who was wary due to Ryu's public image, Lee persuaded her, and Ryu's sincerity won her over, leading to their marriage.
Ryu proudly shared, "Even at home, we hold hands whenever we can. We hold hands until we fall asleep and have our own secret ways of expressing love."
