Chef Lim Sung-geun Faces Backlash for Drinking Amid DUI Controversy
On December 4th, Lim posted on Instagram, "I went on a trip to Beppu, Japan with my respected senior, Lee Bong-won. We enjoyed delicious food and a refreshing draft beer. These moments are the happiest for me~^^" along with a photo of him drinking.
The following day, Lim shared another drinking moment, stating, "Yesterday, with the unexpected first snow... I had soju with actor Kim Hyung-il and friends over a hot pot." In a video, he laughed while showing a hotel backdrop, urging viewers to "enjoy the first snow."
On January 2nd, he posted a photo of a toast with his wife, captioned, "Had a pleasant dinner outing with my beloved wife~~^^"
Viewers criticized his confession, commenting, "Don't act like this is cool or funny," "Even one DUI is a problem, but three?" and "It's shocking to casually talk about this with a bottle in hand."
Lim explained his reason for confessing, "I want to hide it, but if something happens later, many people will be hurt. I don't want to make excuses for my wrongdoings." When asked by the producer if it was okay to upload the content, he replied, "I don't want to hide it. It's right to inform and apologize to our subscribers. It's not something to hide, and I feel sorry for causing concern."
He added, "Receiving immense love is overwhelming, and I want to unburden my heart. I've loved drinking due to a busy and tough life, but I hope for forgiveness. I'll be careful to avoid future issues."
Meanwhile, Lim is set to appear on MBC's 'The Manager' on the 24th. However, KBS2's 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' has canceled his scheduled recording.
