The director of the Barbecue Institute, portrayed by Yoo Yong-wook, who appeared on Netflix's variety show 'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War 2,' has captured attention by sharing his culinary journey and behind-the-scenes stories.

On Netflix Korea's YouTube channel, 'Netflix Korea Black and White After Service: Dark Chef,' a video titled 'The Barbecue Institute Director Presents, I'm Not Just Rolling Around' was released.

In the video, the Barbecue Institute Director revealed that he was originally an ordinary office worker and started cooking as a hobby. He explained that he was recognized for his skills after grilling meat for friends, recalling memories of using a barbecue grill at his rural home during childhood.

The Barbecue Institute Director shared an anecdote about attempting to lease a 9-pyeong store during the time when Gyeongridan-gil was gaining attention, but it fell through due to his wife's strong opposition. He confessed that he stubbornly argued with his wife but admitted that he had no concrete plans at the time.

In response, Kim Poong mentioned his own experience of running a failed café in Sangsu-dong, agreeing that the wife's judgment was correct, which elicited laughter. Subsequently, the Barbecue Institute Director's weekend farm cooking, which he pursued as a hobby, gained online popularity, leading him to pursue a career as a professional chef.

He also shared behind-the-scenes details of the competition. The Barbecue Institute Director chose Raymond Kim as his opponent in the 1-on-1 battle of the second round because he had been a fan since the early 2010s when he started cooking and wanted to meet him in person.

Regarding the veal ribeye dish presented in the third-round team match, he admitted that it was his first time handling veal. He recalled opting to continuously turn the meat over a gas flame due to time constraints, and he was relieved that the results exceeded his expectations.

The Barbecue Institute Director stated, "After the show, my family is very happy, and while I feel sorry for the busy staff at the restaurant, I am grateful for the high interest in the food industry." Although he was eliminated after choosing Sambechae oysters in the redemption round, the final winner will be determined in the remaining episodes.
