SHINee's Minho Opens Up About Idol Dating Rumors and His Passion for Sports
On BIGBANG's Daesung's YouTube channel 'House Daesung,' a video titled 'Came from YG to SM' was uploaded.
In the video, Daesung mentioned Minho's impressive performance at the past 'Idol Star Athletics Championships,' saying, "While others were flirting, Minho was genuinely enjoying the games."
Minho responded with humor, "Even though it was part of the schedule, I was so happy to get free exercise," drawing laughter. Addressing the rumors of the event being a 'dating ground' for idols, Minho clarified, "There were many such stories, but I was truly focused only on the events." He recalled his serious attitude, saying, "Competing in 3-4 events a day, I was like a racehorse with blinders, only thinking about how to perform better in the next event."
Minho's intense dedication to sports stemmed from his agency's strict guidelines during his debut. He revealed, "When I debuted, the company told us to speak as little as possible to maintain a mysterious image." With limited opportunities to showcase his variety skills or speaking talents, Minho explained that sports were the only area where he could excel, driving him to give his all.
Daesung also related to Minho's story, sharing YG Entertainment's past strategy of maintaining mystery. He recalled, "We were instructed to stay in the car and not wander around when sharing waiting rooms." Minho agreed, "I think that strategy worked. As a young fan, I was so curious about the seniors whose music I listened to, but I only got a 3-second glimpse when greeting them."
Minho added, "Back then, seniors didn't hand out CDs, so we had to buy them ourselves," to which a flustered Daesung humorously apologized, "We were so arrogant. We should have given them out earlier."
Minho shared memories of admiring BIGBANG from their exclusive waiting room on the third floor of 'Inkigayo' during his rookie days, creating a warm atmosphere. Now in their 20th year, Daesung and Minho shared a delightful conversation beyond their respective agencies. Meanwhile, Minho continues to engage with the public through his dual career as a singer and actor, recently releasing the single 'TEMPO.'
Previously, fellow SHINee member Key was embroiled in illegal medical procedure allegations. Despite fans demanding a statement, the agency remained silent. On the 17th, 11 days after the controversy arose, Key admitted to the procedure and announced his departure from broadcasting in an official statement.
