Singer Shin Myung-nan Opens Up About Heartbreaking Family Tragedy on KBS1's 'Morning Yard'
On the October 17th episode of KBS1's popular segment 'Challenge Dream Stage' on 'Morning Yard,' Shin Myung-nan delivered a performance that encapsulated her life story.
During the broadcast, Shin Myung-nan revealed, "I met my husband, who was raised by a single mother and had five sisters, and we had a daughter and a son." She recounted the challenges of living with her in-laws, cooking for over 20 family members.
She worked tirelessly, never going to bed before midnight. "My 5-year-old son went to play by the Jungnangcheon stream and drowned. The image of my son's cold body is something I can never forget. It still breaks my heart," she said, tearing up as she recalled the difficult time.
That trial was her husband's infidelity. "In pursuit of having another son, my husband had affairs with several women," she shared. "I wanted to raise my daughter well, so I divorced him. I worked hard, even doing manual labor at construction sites, to raise her alone. Now, she is married and living well."
To her son, who passed away at such a young age, Shin Myung-nan expressed, "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you, and I want you to know that I will never forget you and will love you forever."
