Drama 'Dynamite Kiss' Captivates Viewers with Intense Love Story
According to Nielsen Korea on December 4, the December 3 broadcast of SBS's Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Dynamite Kiss' (written by Ha Yoon-ah, Tae Kyung-min/directed by Kim Jae-hyun, Kim Hyun-woo/produced by Studio S, Samhwa Networks) recorded a 5.5% viewership rating in the metropolitan area, maintaining its position as the number one weekday drama across all channels. The highest minute-by-minute rating soared to 6.9%. Additionally, the 2049 demographic rating reached 2%, with a peak of 2.77%, ranking first among all programs aired on Wednesday. The drama continues to lead in the crucial 2049 demographic.
In the latest episode, viewers witnessed Gong Ji-hyuk (played by Jang Ki-yong) realizing his feelings for Go Da-rim (played by Ahn Eun-jin), portraying a heart-wrenching love fever. Go Da-rim, too, couldn't stop thinking about Gong Ji-hyuk but hesitated to approach him. The episode left viewers' hearts aching as the two characters remained oblivious to each other's love.
Previously, Gong Ji-hyuk had rushed Go Da-rim to the emergency room after she collapsed. During this moment, Go Da-rim's phone rang, and the caller, Kim Sun-woo (played by Kim Mu-jun), mistakenly believed Gong Ji-hyuk to be her husband. Gong Ji-hyuk turned off the phone and, while watching the sleeping Go Da-rim, internally confessed, "I wish I were the only one by your side. I think I'm going crazy." He finally acknowledged the feelings he had been denying as mere team camaraderie.
Meanwhile, on the day of Natural Bebe's tree-planting campaign, the Mother TF team was fully mobilized. Gong Ji-hyuk and Go Da-rim worked together as team leader and member, unknowingly caring for each other. During this time, Mother TF team member Bae Nan-sook's (played by Park Ji-ah) son went missing in the rain. In the search, Go Da-rim fell and got stranded in the mountains.
While the child returned safely, the news of Go Da-rim's disappearance sent Gong Ji-hyuk rushing into the stormy mountains. He found the fallen Go Da-rim and took her to a nearby cave for shelter, holding her close to keep her warm. As time passed, Gong Ji-hyuk's condition worsened, prompting Go Da-rim to apologize, "I'm sorry because of me," while worrying about him. At that moment, Gong Ji-hyuk held her hand tightly.
A subtle tension enveloped the two as Gong Ji-hyuk confessed, "I'm not a good person. I'm shaken too." Just as they were about to kiss, Kim Sun-woo's voice called out for Go Da-rim from afar. Gong Ji-hyuk pulled Go Da-rim's hand even in front of Kim Sun-woo, but as more people arrived, he had to let go.
This incident further complicated Gong Ji-hyuk and Go Da-rim's feelings. Especially for Gong Ji-hyuk, who had witnessed his mother's struggles due to his father's infidelity, being drawn to the married Go Da-rim was distressing. As Gong Ji-hyuk suffered from love's fever, Go Da-rim, worried about him, visited him. Gong Ji-hyuk coldly pushed her away, saying, "Does your husband know you're here? Don't cross the line." Go Da-rim held back her tears and turned away.
Ultimately, Gong Ji-hyuk made a significant decision, announcing his intention to marry Yoo Ha-young (played by Woo Da-vi) quickly. Believing Yoo Ha-young and Kim Sun-woo to be having an affair, Gong Ji-hyuk hoped that his marriage would prevent Go Da-rim from being shaken or hurt any longer. The episode ended with Gong Ji-hyuk's firm resolve to protect his loved one by sacrificing his own happiness, leaving viewers who understand his love with a painful ending.
In episode 7 of 'Dynamite Kiss', the love between Gong Ji-hyuk and Go Da-rim grew uncontrollably, yet only the two remained unaware of their mutual affection. Meanwhile, Kim Sun-woo and Yoo Ha-young, entangled in a love square with the two, as well as the viewers, are all aware of their love. Viewers eagerly await the day when the misunderstandings are cleared, and the two can openly express their love.
SBS's Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Dynamite Kiss' will air its 8th episode on December 4, Thursday, at 9 PM.
