Kim Kang-woo Earns 'Nation's Brother-in-Law' Title with Heartfelt Gesture for Han Hye-jin
Kim Kang-woo has gone above and beyond for his sister-in-law, Han Hye-jin.

On the October 21st episode of KBS 2TV's 'New Release, Pyeonstorang,' chef Kim Kang-woo showed his support for Han Hye-jin's return to drama by gifting 100 homemade sandwiches and a coffee truck to her filming set. This touching gesture highlighted Kim Kang-woo's reputation as the 'Nation's Brother-in-Law,' a title even Han Hye-jin acknowledges.

Kim Kang-woo prepared mysterious envelopes and boxes filled with ingredients on his kitchen island. He explained, "My youngest sister-in-law is filming a drama. I wanted to send a coffee truck for the actors and staff, but just sending coffee felt lacking, so it turned into a bigger project." Inside the envelopes and boxes were ingredients for 100 sandwiches, including bagels and cream cheese, all prepared by Kim Kang-woo himself.

He began by soaking, boiling, and draining black soybeans. He then mixed 8kg of black soybeans with 10kg of cream cheese and 1kg of honey. The effort was so intense that even Kim Kang-woo's forearms, known for their '47 sexy' appeal, were pumped. He didn't stop there, continuing with slicing 100 bagels, washing arugula, and slicing 2kg of ham. This massive project took a total of 40 hours.

Han Hye-jin's face lit up with a smile at her brother-in-law's heartfelt gift. She immediately video-called Kim Kang-woo, and their sibling-like conversation warmed hearts. Actress Jin Seo-yeon also made a surprise appearance, jokingly saying, "Kim Kang-woo is a scam. If you're handsome, you shouldn't do this," drawing laughter.

The episode also revealed Han Hye-jin's genuine gratitude towards Kim Kang-woo. In the past, she expressed her appreciation for his support during difficult times after her father's passing, earning him the 'Nation's Brother-in-Law' title.

Han Hye-jin shared, "My brother-in-law is like the eldest son-in-law. He often visits my father's grave near the filming location, like a son." She added, "Even we don't visit often, so it was touching." Han Hye-jin continued, "I respect how he lives for family and always takes care of us. Thank you for always being there for our family."

The broadcast also shared stories of Kim Kang-woo's first impressions of his sisters-in-law, his close relationship with his youngest brother-in-law, Ki Sung-yong, who is 12 years younger, and his reaction to Han Hye-jin and Ki Sung-yong's first meeting.

Kim Kang-woo humbly commented on his 'Nation's Brother-in-Law' title, saying, "I don't think it's special since it's for my parents. You shouldn't attach 'Nation's' to just anyone, maybe just 'Bangbae-dong Brother-in-Law.'" Despite his humility, Kim Kang-woo's dedication to making 100 sandwiches over 40 hours proves he truly embodies the 'Nation's Brother-in-Law' title.

Kim Kang-woo, who has been dubbed the 'Nation's Husband' and 'Nation's Son-in-Law,' continues to shine as the 'Nation's Brother-in-Law.' KBS 2TV's 'New Release, Pyeonstorang' airs every Friday at 8:30 PM.
